1. Major events.
- Supernova explosion
- Planetary catastrophe
- Invasion of the swarm of cosmic locusts. Cosmic locusts will devour planets, moons, stars... It's galactic calamity.
etc

2. Technologies of the Transhuman Era for highly developed empires:
- terraforming of planets
- creation of new worlds
- cloning. Effects are cheap troops, potential social problems.
- robotization and cybernation. Effect is a considerable reduction of corruption. Possible consequences... Can watch BSG:)

3. Unstable natural worm holes for instantaneous movement. It's rare and optional things.

4. Parliament and factions within empires...

Agree to all of those! :D

There is "sort of" Terraforming in the game. It's more of colony modules that allow you to more and more efficiently colonize different planet types than your race requirements, but it functionally serves the same purpose.

I refer you to the "This game is not Sword of the Stars" statement I made... [:'(] Cosmic Locusts... really? I think Kerberos might get more than a little angry about that.

Yeah what the heck is that about cosmic locusts?! Is that something in SotS? I've never played this game...mainly due to the appalling reviews.

You should give it a try, the game is awesome. And the locusts are bad news, you do not want to run into them.
There should be a SotS demo out there somewere.

I've played SotS not enough.

The cosmic locusts in DW may be global dangerous phenomenon for all races or the majority of races in Galaxy. How do you like the gaseous form of life that devours any matter, e.g. spaceports, planets, moons? I think it differs from SotS locusts.

Actually, SotS also has a gaseous lifeform that consumes starbases and ships. [;)] Again, I think they have the intellectual property for these things, so they wouldn't be happy seeing it here!

Intelectual property?
Dont make me laugh.
I see most of this 'uniqe' events before.
In many books and few games older than SotS.

Agreed. I've seen every thing science-fiction has to offer in stories of novels/books, movies, television shows, and games. Anyone thinking they have something new and unique that should not be copied is misinformed. Emulating popular and successful features is a wise practice.

Indeed, the concept of any one company having a concept of "gaseous lifeforms that consume starbases" as an IP is hilarious IMO, but then again, so are IP laws.

-an automatic pause option feature.
This would happen before any thing of cetain significance, which you can also choose in options, such as battles, meetings, discoveries, diplomatic messages, researched advances, etcetera.

Well then, lets just say copying SotS is monumentally unoriginal, if you don't want to use the IP argument. [:'(]

New wish:)

- private colony ships. They'll found semi-independent colonies, in other words to create the new factions of our race. Such colonies will be under our protectorate. Of course rich and developed semi-independent colonies can break off relations with our empire.

Nice idea Sarus.
Actually I like it. Think about all this wild clonies, smuglers den, private miners etc.
But something like that should go with policy in your empire, factions, legue of traders, corporations etc.

Has anyone thought to just wait a few more days and see what you got?

BEFORE you start telling them what you wanted to have?

I've never seen anything like this before.

Good Hunting.

Many of us DO know what is not in the game. Thus this thread. It's not that difficult. Plus, thread like this are fun to express ideas.

We have read the forum and articles. We have seen the screen shots and videos. Developers and testers have answered questions.

This thread indicates that the game is very interesting for potential players.

I waited similar game for a long time. GalCiv2, SEV and other global space strategies are not suited for me. But my dream comes true. And this dream is named Distant Worlds.

God bless Code Force and Matrix Games!

-I really wish that high terraforming or habitation technology could allow colonization of ALL planet types. Seems like high technology should allow elimination of limitations.
ORIGINAL: elliotg
Each race has a native planet type that they can colonize. In addition all races can colonize the most hospitable planet type (Continental planets). As your colonization technology progresses you can then colonize more inhospitable planet types: marshy swamp and desert planets. But some planet types can never be colonized unless A) it is your races native planet type or B) there is a pre-existing independent alien race at the planet. So ocean, ice and volcanic planets require these situations for you to colonize them.

You don't like a pause feature yet turn-based games are sort of auto-paused after each turn. Distant Worlds will let you pause and jump to events and items that are completed in an annoucement section.
I would like to know if there is an auto-pause feature option for such events. If , not, I wish for one.

Is there a pause hotkey? How many different types of game speeds are there?
