I got 1280x800 to work, but I've found that at that resolution (native for my laptop screen) the mouse scrolling no longer works on the right or the bottom edges of the screen. Map scrolling when moving the mouse to the top or the left edge of the screen works as normal.
Something around detecting when the mouse is at the edge or bottom of a wide screen setup is missing.
Bugger. They didn't fix this problem.... [:(]
If you are using windowed mode, you need to go to the edge of the screen, not the window.
I'm in full screen mode.

Not sure what the problem is but obviously the mouse is unable to reach the right or bottom of the actual screen, this could be some kind of monitor setting or video card setting that is causing this problem, iow the game screen is larger than the desktop by just a small amount. Check your scaling options and use force aspect ratio.

Hmm. This is a problem for me. Is there any way in game to alter the width of the band around the edge of the screen indicating where scrolling starts? Something like a "-mscrollbandtop 5 -mscrollbandleft 5 -mscrollbandright 10 -mscrollbandbottom 10" set of parameters? My, wouldn't that be a useful enhancement! [8D]
My setup for running the game is that I've got a Linux host OS with Windows XP running in a VirtualBox virtual machine. It's worked very nearly flawlessly at 1024x768, but perhaps there is something up with the virtual video driver.

I can still use the keyboard arrow keys to get around the map, so widescreen is not lost for me.

If you have a large monitor you can plug in to your laptop you could use windowed.

Definitely could... However, not when I'm in the coffee shop during my lunch hour running yet another combat replay! [:)]

Can anyone list the the wide screen settings that this game now supports. I have been trying to get 1440 x 900 to work, but it does not work (I find 1680 x 1050 too hard to read but I would like it bigger than 1280 x 800).

1440 x 900 works perfectly for me, although the mouse response time has slowed markedly.

For me, it helped to remove the -dd_sw from my options after going to wide screen.

Try
"G:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition.exe" -cpu4 -multiaudio -px1680 -py1050 -f
but it won't work unless your video card and monitor support it. 1600x900 is the 16:9 aspect ratio in that range.

spartanwarrior, you are using the menu shortcut autorun.exe, instead of War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe
-px1680 -py1050 works here

That's probably the easiest and most likely to work.

spartanwarrior, when the game is installed a shortcut is created. But it is not to the executable of the game itself but to WitP-AE Menu, that targets to autorun.exe
But he commands are not valid for that shorcut.
You have to create a shortcut for War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe that is located at C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition.
For that just right click and select create shortcut. Then copy it in your destop. Rgiht click again and type accordinly, like what is posted in the screenshot above
