I figured out your art. I was referring to Don's reference to Port Chicago and no map changes required. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't opposed to it, just didn't understand it.

No matter how much he ducks, dodges, weaves, and whines, Don is our Commander. And like a good Commander he says 'what' to do and lets us figure out 'how'. Sometimes, we don't debrief as often, or as completely, as we should. Our bad.

Way off topic, anyway what is painfully aware to me is this game needs an expansion (call it WITP AE ultimate) with 20 mile hexes to accommodate our needs.[:D]

We have the visual in our heads when we do this stuff, but if it will float your boat a bit better, I can shoot you a modified WPEH13 and WPEN13. It's sloppy, and not up to Andrew's standards, but might give a better visualization of what's actually going on, yeah?

Given the connections to Port Chicago and Pittsburg around here, this conversation could take on an interesting life of its own -- and maybe we even get a Bay Bridge out of the deal -- if I get out of the way.

So I don't really need your map mod for current peace of mind playing against the AI. But thanks for going to the effort, it humbles my quibbling nature. [;)]

I'll try not to whine about the map again till after I try my hand at modding that map myself and seeing who I have to disappoint. I have now passed thirty years in the Bay Area, and the only way that the denizens could really be pleased is if the North Bay, Frisco, the South Bay and the East Bay all had their own hexes and bases, shipyards, etc. They'll just have to wait for Buck's 20 mile hex version.

Mare Island has a NSY base and not much more.

Also has the Benicia Arsenal, but I guess that would be more like light industry than military support:

I took it to mean that the hex called Alameda could be relabeled Port Chicago as the easiest solution to my quibble. If that hex ever gets refineries it could labeled Martinez and I wouldn't care if it had shipyard capacity [:D]

just for jollies I spent the afternoon doing a little map editing of my own. I never have figured out posting images here, so its two files in a zip.

Included is the reference map I made of the Bay Area with a hex overlay provided by the ODD utility that someone wrote for TOAW.

This sample puts Hamilton in the Mare Island hex and Moffet in the Alameda hex. That leaves Frisco with Crissy Field, SFO, and the seaplane station at Treasure Island.

I can honestly say that I wouldn't want to make a lot of map mods until I learned a few tricks of the trade. MS Paint is not the ideal tool.

ElCid and Cobra did miracles with WITP Maps using Cobra's art and the PWHex. It would have been fun to see what they could have come up with in AE, having the same tools to works with.
