With Vista 64 bit, went through all my resolutions. Turned on and off XP compatibility. Uninstalled, installed. No logo, no stars, no screws. So, then I took a hard drive that has XP 32 bit on it, put it in the same computer and booted in XP. After installation I had the logo, stars, etc. It seems to be OS specific.
Personally I've never used the circle of stars. I always use the combat planner. So I couldn't tell you if that circle, logo, screws combo was ever there with Vista. I just didn't pay attention to that part of the screen. Could have been a nude there and I probably wouldn't have noticed. [:D]
So, erwinboa, I think if you want to see the star circle you're going to have to use XP.
Forgot to mention. If I put the cursor over that area, even though nothing is there, the mouse over shows info in the bottom of the screen showing planned combats/turn used. So it appears to be a graphics glitch and not a total fail.
This is really some strange behavior. I do not use 64-bit OS but 32-bit Vista Enterprise with SP2 and 2 GB RAM and TOAW III is running without any system or graphics issues. I am running it on HP nc8430 notebook with ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphic adapter and with Catalyst drivers ver. 8.593.0.0 (March 2009).
There are some topics on this forum covering similar graphic issues with 64-bit OS and hopefully they will be fixed with upcoming 3.4 patch.

Here's what I have so far. Maybe Ralph can use this. Dunno.
This one has the stars, screws, etc but...I can't get the game to cover the whole screen even in XP compatibility.
HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook
AMD Turion 64 x2 2.0 gig
Vista Home Premium OS
3 gig memory
GeForce 7150M adapter @ 1280x800x59 hertz (uses system memory)
This one has NO star, screws or logo and the XP compatibility works.
Self Built.
AMD 7750 Dual Core 2.7 gig
Vista Home Premium OS
4 gig memory
NVidia GeForce 9400 GT w/512mb memory @ 1440x900x59 hertz
My XP OS on the same computer and resolution has the stars, screws, etc.
I'd try it on my wife's PC but I like living. [;)]

Same over here! I have two more machines at home; one is used by my wife, other one by my daughter. I would like to live as well!

That's almost the same as my laptop's configuration. The only differences are mine is a dv9500, 4 GB RAM, and Intel dual core 64-bit CPU. I'm running 64-bit Vista Home Premium with compatibility mode (for TOAW III) set to XP SP2 running at 1440x900 with 32-bit color. My setup displays everything and the game window expands to fill the whole screen. 'Tis a puzzlement as to why yours isn't working right. FWIW, my guess is that this is some sort of weird hardware-related issue. I hope this info helps.

Again, just in case, I'll mention one other obvious point: Be sure you're updated to 3.2. There was a change in 3.2 (item 13) that affected this display.

Hi everyone. I finded a solution to my problem, as simple as hide the Windows 7 bar. Then, the turn run clock appears in his full size. I made it because i had another problem with other program, and it fixed the TOAW III too. [:D]
