Taikaku and Ryukaku are two carrier names that spring instantly to mind. Perhaps Hikaku?

WELL DONE! Are there translations for these or are they simply home-made? Regardless of answer--Thanks.

Hello you both,

since japanese aircraft carrier were named from birds or mythical flying animals, I would suggest "Renkaku", Pheasant-tailed Jacana

An alternative, though it lacks the ending "kaku", would be "Suzaku", the Japanese name for the Chinese Vermilion Bird (Zhū Què), bird guardian of the South.

Also, "Kokakuchō", Ubume bird sounds very lyrical.

Cheers

I can help with aircraft stats, if you need help there (although now the work seems simple now). As about editing planetops/pictures, I don't have time to do learn this from scratch.

I'm happy to do any of the artwork - I can't promise it will be the very best - but I hope it will fit the bill. My post on the britannia mod will give you an idea of what you'd be getting.

Terminus is right regarding names for japanese carriers. The reason being US naval inteligence for most of the war thought there was a third Shokaku which was named Ryukaku. Regarding Taikaku I am not sure but was it a planned Amagi ?

Ryukaku was indeed the mythical third Shokaku that USN intel thought existed. The other two I made up. "Taikaku" is "Taiho" minus "-ho" and plus "-kaku". "Hikaku" is "Hiryu" minus "-ryu" and plus "-kaku".

"Ryukaku" = "Dragon Crane"
"Taikaku" = "Great Crane"
"Hikaku" = "Flying Crane"

Che, I think you're mistaking "Taikaku" for "Takao", which was one of the originally projected Amagis, along with Akagi and Atago.

How about we go with Ryukaku, Taikaku, and Renkaku? Both contributors get at least one name into the Mod. They sound like good, lyrical names that will add to the laurels of the Kaigun.

BANZAI!

My plans today---with the Tone's and Agano's done---is to get the Battlecruisers, Carriers, and new DDs added. Think this is possible on today's schedule.

Will also seek to create the Air Groups for those above ships and that will take a bit of time. I've got to make sure the Air Groups coincide with planes in production when the 3 CV arrive. Need to settle on the delivery dates for Judy and Jill before that. We already know which Zero will be in Naval production at that point.

Juan---when I send the Mod to you, could add your ship art to the new ships and make sure I have the ones with ship art already established are correct?

IF I can do all this then I'll shift to LCUs I guess. Never done anything with these so it might take some real work.

Good Day Sir. What sort of art do you do? We are certainly gonna need some new art for the planes that have been created. Might that interest you?

Sure, just send it over when you're done with your changes to the ship files. I'll also add in the torpedo changes, and if you want them, the ammo changes.

With regards to that, I'll put up a post in a bit showing some of the proposed changes compared to what they are now.

Also, if you want, theres a version of the Shokaku with a Junyo style vertical stack in my artwork, which might work for your Shokaku-Kai class. Its the art for the Soryu/Hiryu in the ECV variant, ID's 449 and 469.
