Send in the Marines!!

Having been a member on this forum for about 8 years, I have to admit surprise when reading some of the things written above. I just didn't realize so many mature women frequent here who steadfastly stand by the motto 'Ignorance is bliss'.

Hackers like that suck. I suppose one could argue that hackers serve a purpose in society by forcing legit network specialists and programmers to continue to increase security. But still, the amount of money and effort devoted to security is taking away from time, money & effort that could be put to better use in designing and programming quality computer games.

What a waste of brain power and talent to devote yourself to blackmailing businesses, when instead you could be devoting those same intellectual resources to finding a cure for cancer, or some other noble and important endeavor.

They have some very restrictive DRM's on thier games.
Can you explain? The only drm I have from their games is a serial number, like Matrix?
This is the perfect arguement for physical game copies over downloads only. I always buy the disc.
Thanks
p.s. battlefronts email yesterday has a trojan in it.

Uh dude. That's not my quote. I know nothing about Battlefront. [:-]
Sorry. [;)]

Well the hack could originate from ... anywhere on this planet, maybe from an attic in Russia, maybe from a tent in China, maybe from the States itself, but it *is* a threat and a nuisance. So yeah, you could send in the Marines [:D] but when the threat comes from that teenager living somewhere in Pakistan....
I mean, were not talking about big companies with lots of cash, this here (Battlefront) is a gamerssite from and for people who like to play strategic/tactical games.
Oh well, proves once again that nothing is safe on the internet.

That is somewhat reassuring, but at the same time, I won't be using their forums anytime soon.

The more I read about this company, the more it is becoming apparent their only understanding & effort into SECURITY is DRM.  When it comes to something that benefits the player, like protecting their private data, etc. this simply goes right out the window.

I can see now why not everyone is so terribly upset with the latest events.

Hi guys,

Wish I'd checked in on this thread earlier. Battlefront was indeed hacked and I see their response was posted above. I wish them all the best in nailing the bastard who did this to them. In the meantime, this is not the place for anything other than civil discussion. Locking this up as I think the info that needed to be shared on this has already been posted.

Regards,

- Erik
