Sweet! That sounds fun. Innovative detail there in the espionage for many of these types of games..

Woah, nice addition! I can't believe there continues to be a stream of news about this game that I haven't heard about yet and is totally cool!

Seemingly minor choices in game that can lead to major developments are fun.

I haven't been able to "bulletproof" my counter-intelligence so far, but you do catch plenty of enemy plots if you focus on it. Also, as your spies gain skill they can be more effective at any mission. There are also opportunities where you may find out that one empire is plotting against another and you have a choice of whether to reveal that information or not. I ended up effectively starting a war once when I decided to let the target empire know that their enemies were conducting ops against them.
But you can't actually yourself setup a terrorist/sabotage attack against another nation and make it look like it was a third nation who did the terrorist attack/sabotage, rather than yourself?

You mean false flag operations?
I bet you cant.
BTW It will be cool If you can setup a terrorist/sabotage attack against yourself and blame somebody to get reason to invade them.

Yeah exactly, dunno if you've heard of the geo-political game "SuperPower 2", it had that, and I did exactly what you wrote in your message, I set up terrorist attack on my own nation to make the rest of the world feel that it was justified for me to attack another nation!
It was the greatest.
And to balance it out so it's not easy to exploit, you could make the chance of success be very low, and naturally the price of failure very high(big drop in reputation with other empires!)

Yeah I hear about this game. I play first part but I get bored fast. Game has potential but I was to lazy to dig it. IS second part better than 1?

Another thought on a separate set of counter intelligence missions to compliment the current set of offensive intellgence missions.
Your spies bring back stolen plans of your opponents new hyper drive. You invest research into the drive & put it in a ship that explodes during the trials and only then are you informed that the designs were a plant.
I know all this would need to go into a future release, but look how much richer the experience would be when your intelligence operations have a variety of possible consequences if they go bad vs just losing an agent.

Upon more thought, maybe those types of details might be too much. It could be assumed that our agents are super agents skilled enough at start to be able to discern legitimate and true information and materials they are targeting for espionage.
If so, I'm wondering HOW they would distinguish fraudulent information in so many areas that maybe only scientists could determine. Maybe the super agents are part scientist or have received generalized, advanced, scientific education to aid their Intelligence operations.

I see your point Wade.
Not sure if it is over the top since I've never seen it done. I suppose like most game elements it would depend greatly on the skill by which it is implemented.
It does seem to offer a new or at lease at additional level of depth and I have always been drawn to the micomanagement style of strategic play.
