A really sad day for our country.

Among those who were killed were:
President,
Operational Commander of Armed Forces
Commander of Air Forces
Commander of Land Forces
Commander of Special Forces
Commander of Navy.

And BTW - number of 132 victims is incorrect. Aboard plane were 88 passengers + 8 crewmen.

So basically, the entire Polish country and military is without a commander. Did they put too many eggs in one basket or what?[8|]

Very sad day for the great nation of Poland. North East Scotland has had a rich and long-lasting Polish community dating back to the Second World War when some of the Polish men-at-arms were billeted in the area and settled down here after the war.
However, V22 does make a very valid point. Why were most of the military and civilian establishment travelling on one aircraft at the same time?

So many top officials? Sounds like a horrible accident. A sad day for the people of Poland.

Apparently the plane also carried the families of katyn massacre victims:
Kaczynski's wife, Polish church leaders and families of Katyn massacre victims were also killed.

V22 Osprey, teddy, probably they are going to look people responsible for after the mourning will end.
We have got similar accident two years ago when several top high air commanders where traveling one plane and it crashed, it looks like nobody take a lesson.
Discussion about buying new airfleet for government has been lasting for many years (at least since governmental chopper crashed in 2003), but they were afraid that all tabloids will wrote that government is wasting money for luxuries. Every time when prime minister and president flow to the same place with different planes, we have seen headers: "20000 PLN wasted"*

*1 PLN = 0,35 USD

President is transported from the airport to the Palace.
I've never ever seen so many people at the streets of Warsaw.

I was brought up with Lech Walesa in the news through the 80's.

A girl I work with said she recently had lunch with Lech Walesa. She had no clue she was going to a lunch where he would be and she got to sit with him and several others. She said he was a very nice man in person.
