But, it seems that the Boer War would need a few graphics changes, esp. on artillery. British formations as well. . .

Normally, the first module needs more time than the followings, because it's the first of a new game. The others will use same routines, etc.
On the other hand, Hope that Combat Leader will not be a flop. I think it will know good sales because it's promising.

The Matrix guys must know roughly how many people are potential buyers of Combat Leader, as they must have a handle on how many people participate on this Forum and how many have downloaded SPWAW.
The Mega campaigns may not have interested all SPWAW players, but they will have given Matrix an idea of how many people would frok out a sum for addennda to an existing game.
They should be able to extrapolate demand for a brand new, much improved game with some confidence. If these indications were discouraging, they would discontinue the project. They haven't, so I think you can count on CL seeing the light of day.

If I had twenty grand I'd start my own Modern wargame company (no WW1,WW2 allowed):D

And how many people could you hire for a year with 20 grand?

Well I always hear Matrix saying that they were doing SPWAW coding at night when they should be spending time with there families,so they obviously are not making a living from Matrix games at this point.
I'd imagine with some cash to throw around you could recruit interested coders, lets face it very few people overall would even care to code Steel Panthers -Modern warfare
Someone who is doing this is doing it cuz they love it primarily.
Otherwise they would be working for ID on the new Doom 3 game or something...

20K is for a couple of months with a director and maybe 2 coders. People needs to eat!

Indeed cant argue that point, but my point is your looking at a perfect situation, some people need/want more/less etc.
Anything is possible.
what your suggesting is everything is set up up front so when people go home at night they know they'll have a job in the morning.
With a game like this you need to be more frugal.
Good god, maybe the cushy jobs are all gone:rolleyes:
Ohh and we dont need a worthless director do we...
Has to be a coder/director.

I like to take the time to appoligize If I've offended anyone with this thread. That was not my intention,I simply wanted to ignite a fire in this gaming community regarding post WW2 combat.
I have no right to make some of the comments I made because I've not coded a **** thing.
I'm thinking now it was definetly a waste of time.

It was a good idea, but the problem is . . . who will collect the money? Somebody has to before passing it on to Matrix.
See, the idea of the MegaCampaigns was to obtain cash to feed the programmers, and of course to make us happy warriors:D
If more people buy the already sold out MegaCampaigns, then Matrix can fill its warchess and continue its production of the next project.
Time to get some zzzzzzz before the morning smell of cordite.

I would pay BIG bucks for a modern warfare SPWAW. Come up with a development cost and than do a pre order list, wait a few months, see how many orders you get, devide that into your costs ( with a small profit

) and come up with a price. If this time period has only a few people interested than the cost would be high, but I for one wouldn't expect only to pay $50 for a limited run game.

I think what everyone is failing to realise, is that its not just about money.
Sure money is a big thing to be sure.
But come on guys, Steel Panthers (in any form or incarnation) is yesterday.
It was and still is a great game.
But it's not tomorrow.
If I was a coder and had a choice of work on a tired game that might interest a handful of enthusiasts, or work on the next generation of software......
My choice would be to work on the next generation of software (so I didn't end up getting left out of the loop).
There is no way my time would be purchasable. Especially when my time could be spent on advancing the hobby through developing the successors to Steel Panthers.
I have heard comments with respects to the cost of the initial installment of Combat Leader. It isn't going to be easy getting it for me specifically.
If the game comes out, and flops economically from people refusing to let go of Steel Panthers and let it enjoy it's retirement years, you will likely be putting a nail in Matrix's financial stability.
And that will me that everything starts to fade. Future games, this Forum and the whole enchilada.
My love is with Steel Panthers, but my cash is heading off to Combat Leader.

My money is on Combat Leader too!
But, in the mean time if you want to play Modern Battles, SPww2 is about to come out with their updated verison. Probable not as great as a SPWAW version would be, but good enough to satisfy the majority of us.
