What exactly, does "uregistered" mean?

Before any attack, artillery will fire at a target to make sure they are on target and then adjusy if nescessary. This is called registering the guns.

From the point of view of the enemy, it is a random arty barrage.

First thing I do every scenario is individually set a defence order for all my Arty Units that are subordinated to the high HQ's then leave them on call....as soon as they come on as a reinforcement I do the same....I never group them.

Why defence?

PS would that not detach them from the command chain?

No it doesn't...leaves them on call and they do a great job....I find they get to work alot quicker doing it this way....always remember though you detach an Arty unit from the high level map boss your not actualy releasing it from their control as such...you will still see the command line running to it...they are still under their control....it also mean you can maove the HQ witjhout having to disrupt the Arty...once the Arty goes out of Rande I then move further forward.

Another good reason to detach is you then get your ARty units shown in the FS tab so you can locate them quickly and see what their upto.

This way I'm not grouping them together making an Uer Arty unit...they all respond to different threats...well most of the time...I feel it's not being gamey IF grouping Arty units is.

I very rarely detach battalion support units...nor regiment...mainly division and above.
