Tracing that targeting line back we find this at the other end.
The question mark means we don't know what it is that's targeting us but the fire seems to be coming from this location.
Whatever it is firing right through the apple trees at us.
Good Hunting.

Theres nothing worse than been shot at and not knowing what is shooting you. If you know the direction you can atleast order indirect fire/smoke if thats available. I fear for those little panzers its an AT/AA gun.

You should get in the habit of checking the map with trees off so that you don't miss the appearance of enemy units. Even with display coins on and the TAC map you can miss enemy units.
You can use the coins to your advantage in several ways. Locating units in a dense terrain map is one, but you can also click the coin to give orders or to target an enemy unit. They also show if a vehicle is buttoned or not and whether the unit is a leader, replacement leader or a non-leader unit.

The reaction phase of turn 4 starts with one known identified Russian AFV's in sight and one that hasn't been identified yet.

That's all the information I need.
Two of my PzII's were told to target the lead Russian AFV. Which they did and opened fire.

Sending AP greetings from Hitler to Stalin.
PzII's have automatic cannon. Any unit in the game with automatic weapons fires in bursts. It's ammunition is listed in bursts when displayed and as you can tell in this SS, the game has the weapon fire in bursts, even showing the rounds going to the target.

While these PzII's may be little they are far from toothless.
The shells strike all around the Russian Armored Car. The only hits that were registered did not penetrate.
The active ID coin shows that this vehicle has not been killed yet.

The coin is gone, the message box shows that a BA-10 has been hit and killed. The game has a death camera that will take you to any unit killed during the phase. You can also click on the event in the message box to take you directly to that spot on the map.
While were engaging this BA-10 the one that was an unknown vehicle type has bee positively ID'ed and joined by another Russian vehicle.
For those wanting more Fog of War, you can simply turn off the coins during game play. The message box can be increased/decreased in size or turned off as well.
If you turn off both the ID coins and the message box you can play with full FOW. The game allows you to choose your own comfort level with FOW.

As we've seen the PzII's can hold their own.
They are not impervious to the 45mm gun of the Russian BA series Armored Cars though and I need to be careful. I rarely shoot at targets I can't see so I waited until they were in full LOS.
I'm glad that you are enjoying the AAR. I put it together to give those without the chance to play the game yet a feel for how it plays.
Good Hunting.

I particularly like how you are giving advice on
why you are doing things. For example, the F12 tree view toggle and the coins.
I never really got into PCK as much as I would have liked and a lot of that had to with not really understanding the subtleties of the game-play. I'd be playing with my units blowing up and couldn't work out what was going on. Your AAR is as much a tutorial on approaching the game and I am taking note.

Speaking of the F12 key, are you planning to add distinguishing terrain under so the player knows he's in forested terrain without the tree graphics? CMx1 had this, CMSF, iirc, doesn't. It's a major aid.

That's up to the map designer - most maps do have this and in Panzer Command you can also use the Insert key at any time to show the underlying terrain map.

This map has distinguishing terrain textures on it. You can't see it well with this particular map because there is only field, woods and a small patch of clear terrain around the farm.
This screen shot shows the different terrain textures better; on another map I've made.
Good Hunting.

This map shows more of the texturing without woods and structures on it. This is the same texturing you see when you turn off the trees.
Good Hunting.

The end of the turn shows us two BA's sitting side by side and one knocked out. No German tank has taken a hit yet.
Let the dance of death continue.

Keeping the platoons together and moving forward to try to secure the bend in the road.
Also giving orders for the platoons to tighten up their tactical formation. I want massed firepower against whatever the Russians can bring to bear against me.
