After growing disillusionment with all the toy-like alternatives and following months of careful deliberation ...

... I finally liberated my inner grognard and just purchased the game. Couldn't wait for Christmas. Downloading it now.

God help me.

Good luck Berto :) I've been slowly chipping away at the grand campaign of this one since it was released, and my word, the work which has gone into it (and continues to go into it) is something which impresses me every time. Always good to find devs who have a passion and commitment to their games, whether that be in Napoleonics, AACW, or WW2.

This weekend I was driving a client around and during a quiet time caught myself thinking about the my campaign. Crap, I really should have made more APDs! [;)]

It happens all the time.

If you like the bomb hits obliterating the smaller ships, just wait until you see one get obliterated by a torpedo or surface shell hit.  The little SC's and B's that the IJN uses to escort convoys are particularly vulnerable to just disappearing after being torpedoed...

And hello to my wife.

My wife is a Filipina (we met and married in the Philippines). My mother-in-law tells stories about her wartime experiences. (She says that at least a few of the Japanese occupation troops were, in fact, decent human beings.) My uncle-in-law is a survivor of the Bataan Death March. (He doesn't want to talk about it.)

On my recommendation, my wife just finished a book on the liberation of the Philippines, and is starting a second book on the Japanese home front. On our home front, I don't think I'll have any problem at all. [:D]

So far, so good. Enjoying every minute (and every minutia) of WITP:AE! [:)]
