An update to the slowest, most boring game in the forum. We are now up to 17 Sept 1942 and are getting in one 2 day turn a week. I think I will not outlive this game which we started in Aug 2010. In fact I will probably be eligible for Medicare before we get to 1944!
On to the War
In Perth there are 17 Jap units, 66k of infantry along with 579 guns trapped. I am bombarding them continuously from the air and sea in an attempt to starve them. I forgot to bring along some combat engineers so it will take a little longer before I try to bring down forts. I will use US/Indian forces here to do most of the heavy lifting.
In Exmouth there are now 15 Jap units, 33k and 274 guns. They are not quite yet trapped but Carnarvon has just reached a Lvl 2 airport and it will soon be Lvl 3 and then it will be time to turn Exmouth into a Pow camp too. I am massing just south of Exmouth and might try to grab the port or to first take Perth and then send the bulk of the troops north to Exmouth. Again, mostly US/Indian forces here.
North of Townsville still sits a large contingent of Jap forces. One group is 127k and the other much smaller. Pavel continuously moves the bulk out of the hex and then back in. I just ignore them. I have mostly Australian and British forces here. He has a very strong air presence in Cairns. Charters Towers is now a lvl 7 AF and when it reaches Lvl 9 I intend to concentrate my 4E's there and level Cairns and then start a vicious air war against his land forces. Pavel periodically bombards Townsville from the sea but the bulk of the army here is inland. The P40K is now arriving in numbers and hopefully will help turn the air tide at this part of the war.
I have all the landing spots between Sydney and Townsville garrisoned with at least 300 AV behind lvl 3 forts in case Pavel tries another behind the lines invasion. His opportunity to successfully invade between those two cities is long gone.
Tenant Creek is now a lvl 4 AF. I dont plan on doing much here until at least the western Part of Oz is free of pests. I do have a strong blocking force here and have destroyed one tank regiment that traveled down the road with B26 bombers. They do a nice job on troops int he open bombing from 1000 feet. On the other hand, I wont try to send troops up to Daly Waters until I have enough P38's to fly cap.
In China, Pavel still grinds me down. I apologize to lovers of Allied Land war in China because I do it poorly. I much prefer Steel Panthers for land war. This is a lost cause and I am just trying to delay as long as possible.
In India, we are now starting to bring together enough forces to start contesting parts of Burma. Once the 4E's are finished in Oz we will re-locate to eastern India and see what kind of curry we can make. I have started to shift some of the better USAAF squadrons out of Oz to India. These squads all have pilot exp of 60+. In fact, in the air war, we have now lost less planes than the evil empire and usually do well in air combat unless overwhelmed. Which is what is happening in India.
Pavel has been scurrying around the North Pacific lately. Coal Harbour is well protected which is where he could do the most potential damage.
In the South Pacific quiet is the norm. Pago Pago/Savii are well fortified and I am contemplating retaking Nadi et al when the CV's start arriving in 43. To be safe from AMC's and rampaging KB, I send large/huge convoys way way out of the way to NZ and OZ. Lots of supplies in each place and there is probably an excess of troops in NZ. The NZ women are running scared from all the Yanks. Pavel is bombing Norfolk Island nightly and losing a Betty to the night patrols almost every night. Pilot exp is climbing nicely with this P39 squadron.
That is all folks. Another update in 3 or 4 months when we have progressed another few weeks in game time.
