It is a VERY big deal for the IJ player to get the Singgers to Port Arthur land route clear. Then you only haul from PA to HI.
Are you saying you see oil flow from Singers to PA? I've got the entire land route clear, and don't recall ever seeing any movement over that big a distance. Mebbe I'm doing something wrong?
I've pulled fuel, supplies, and resources. Actually to Busan instead of PA if you build up Busan and start shipping from there. I haven't actually seen oil. I think that is because I have enough refinery capacity to use it before it moves .... If I can remember, I can pull a screenshot this weekend. It took a while to "kick" in (everything piled up in Singers initially), but once it did it has been great. I'm sure there is some wastage as there is only a road connection between Siam and Viet Nam, but the savings in ships makes it all worthwhile.
There are a couple of AAR's that show this as well (which is where I learned about it) ... they might be moving oil as well. Can't remember which ones for sure ... PzB and C&G are my guesses ....

(writes down "send subs to patrol off of Port Arthur" on notepaper, for redeployment of Allied subs this afternoon...)
Shallow water all the way will make this very dangerous for your subs. You're sending them into a long, shallow lagoon, surrounded on all sides by angry, well-trained ASW LBA and ASW TFs that know these waters well.
Exactly. IJN ASW in the gulf is ussually highly effective and very costly for the USN. You see the "bottoming out" message all the time and the USN subs take a lot of hits. FOW precludes you from knowing for sure if they are kills or not, but if they have to return to PH at 1 hex/day and then 60 days repair, that is almost as good as a kill. +4 months of sub free resource movement is a lot of resources for IJ. Or that is how I look at it.

Oil and resources do not suffer wastage. I think supply and fuel still do, but I can't recall for sure.

PAX: Interesting take on the Land Route. In order to open this, is it necessary to clear the entire Changsha-Lioyan Railway?
Or, will it move overland via Nanning, Canton, coastal ports, Shanghai, and beyond?
It would save a ton of shipping, if that worked; you would only need to haul stuff to Singers, then Port Arthur. Shallow water over 100% of that route. Even if it would just move to Hong Kong, that would be a big help.

I have not seen this overland route. I ship the stuff from Singer up to the Home Islands and occasionally Port Arthur.

Fuel does not. There was a post by a dev some time ago (tried to find it and couldn't unfortunately), but my experience in OZ of moving massive ammounts of fuel from Perth to Sydney also indicates no wastage for fuel.

Holy crap, we are saying that fuel and resources can travel all the way from Singapore to Port Arthur ? Over all of those non-railroad hexes ? That doesn't seem logical. But boy am I glad to know that for my Japanese game. I would never have guessed that.

Actually, I have obseved no noticible movement of fuel from Hong Kong to Port Arthur , or even Peking, much less coming all the way from Singapore. My Hong Kong experiment involved having a tanker convoy from Singers stop off at Hong Kong instead of proceeding all the way to the HI since I needed fuel at Port Arthur. Certainly didn't work for me. As for Singers, I once had almost 750,000 fuel there due to a shortage of tankers and none of it seemed to go anywhere.

I believe as of the second patch resources, oil and fuel no longer suffer wastage when moved. Item 95 on page 21 of the what's new PDF.
