If you're planning on doing "never-were" ships, may I suggest you start with the Lexington-class BCs? Your uncle and I had spoke on that. As it stands now, the stock Lexington BC artwork has been replaced by the Lexington CV artwork!
We appreciate the great work! Like Graham, each new one keeps getting better and better [8D]

Hi Connfire, I found this version within the stock art work AnSide0111 is this the Lexington art you want redone improved ?
As you can see I have started to change the art already, the art that comes with the game is off very poor standard I think!

Those are both cool. [8D]
Its interesting, looks like you have both the 1916 configuruation, with 5 smokestacks, and the "final" 1919 deign which reduced the number of stacks to 2 larger ones. The first graphic, even though it is of lesser quality, is closer to what they started building in 1920.

So would you like the art for the 1919 design completed for the game?

USA Iowa Pre-dreadnought.
I can honestly say this is the best custom art file for this game that I have seen.
As for Japanese camo scheme, I'm still looking for a good example. It's one of those situations where words fall short

I finally found a couple of threads with the camo - they were part of now long abandoned mods:
tm.asp?m=1119701&mpage=1&key=
tm.asp?m=2048772&mpage=1&key=
The ideas came from the 1944 ship recognition manual for USN submariners.

This is staring to get really cool. I'll second Rysyonok's motion that this is some of the best artwork I've seen for WPO! [8D]

I would suggest that, yes. When the ships were laid down in 1920, they were intended to look like the 1919 design.
And when they decided to convert her into an aircraft carrier, they took the following neat picture below. Note in 1922 she has 2 stacks [;)] (PS - I love the looks on some of the guys in this photo - kind of like "what the h*ll are we thinking?")

Hey Connfire, that´s a great picture, thanks for posting it. I wish I had models that big, but, alas, mine are 1/3000th scale, just a bit smaller than those [:)]

Thanks! (1/3000th? [:D])
That's how my interest in this subject started too, building ship models many - too many - years ago. I'd buy mostly Revell, Monogram, Airfix, and even some of the
Japanese 1/700 Waterline Series models at the store around the corner from me with tips I made delivering newspapers on my bicycle. I first built USS Arizona when I was about 10, and my last was the Wickes class destroyer USS Ward while I was in college. Starting to see a patern? [;)]
Of course, Graham and now Kirk take ship modeling to a form some of us couldn't even have imagined back in the Dark Ages before the internet [8D]

How about some of those ugly French pre-dreadnoughts and armored cruisers? Those monstrosities would certainly be a challenge!

That I am! Our move has really taken away all of my free time (except for a bit of surfing on the net [:D]). I think the last time I fired up WPO was around Easter. But I am hoping by the time my Christmas holiday rolls around, I will be spending some quality time with WPO (and listening to my wife bitch!).
