You are speaking about Different Worlds or Civilization V?

If you have not yet bought the primary TBS game made by an historical software house backed by a mainstream publisher by a fairly big number of developers please don't.
You would spend your time in their forums asking for a refund.

The average player of the Civilization series are just hoping that they will get it right by the time of the second expansion.

Galactic Civilization 2 got two expansions and will get maybe some little polishing in the future because the main programmer is the CEO of his software house and he love his games.
On the other side it has some ways to exploit it that it makes the game almost ridiculous (on that DW is already better).
Let's not start to speak about Elemental War of Magic. I'm waiting for the second game of the series for to hope to finish a (one) meaningful game.

To speak badly about a strategic game is like to open fire on a Red Cross truck.

The problem is that a strategic game is an enormous endeavor made for just a small/medium public.

Hoping that someone (anyone) make it perfect at the first outing is like hoping that you never need an SP for a Microsoft operating system.

So you have to decide if you feel that the game, with all his weak points, is interesting enough and then hope that it will become even better in the future even... GASP... shelling out more money for expansions, DLC, stand alone new editions.
You have also to decide if you feel that the publisher is honestly doing his best about it.

I believe that Stardock are an honest bunch of guys even if I have played Elemental less than DW. I'm on the fence about Fireaxis (at the least I can always go a little back in time and play at CIV4 BTS) and I'm definitely suspicious about 2K.
I would not spend time here if I did not felt at ease with Matrix Games and I would not felt that DW is an interesting game.

So, as you can see it is really about personal choices.

I'm interested to hear what is your but please don't generalize and don't say what the other people in this forum are doing or thinking. That is not in your right.

More than that, if someone go on the official forum of a game to ask about it I'am confident that he expect a positive bias so I don't think that we really needed a Troll to balance our positive slant.

they seem to have done a fairly good job of it needs some balnacing and expansion of tech tree, resoruces some further specialisation some more varied and less impacting events
