More pockets in the south. I have fortunately managed to pretty much pocket the whole line in the south a couple times now. I have had to use regiments to close them. Recon showed there were not strong units nearby to threaten them.

Turn 6
I split 4th PA and spend this turn moving into position with AGC forces for a big move to meet up with 16th Army next turn.

Another pocket south of Moscow. Troops are across the Oka river, which should set off major alarms.

After moving east somewhat reluctantly we finally arrive at Stalingrad. The SS unit moves adjacent to trap the remaining industry there.
This is only a game but I can see why Stalin kept so many reserve armies in real life. The German units are so mobile in this kind of terrain they can encircle very efficiently.

The Italians are on the move!
Because of the state of the Russian lines further north this area is not getting reinforced much.

Turn 7
This looks like the best turn of the game so far. First, the pocket north of Smolensk.

Thanks Mynok
The white units in the south are 14th Panzer Corps, not OKH.

In the north these big pockets take time to clear.

South of Moscow there is still little opposition. Supply starts to be a problem. There do seem to be more JU52's available than in 1941 to airdrop fuel though.

There was a lot of industry in Saratov still so I moved the tank unit adjacent to trap.
The vice also closes on Stalingrad.

Turn 9
These Russians in the hills are a bear to eliminate, especially with weak 16th army.
