I find myself being forced to give movement orders to the platoon hq unit even if I just want one of the subordinate squads to move.  (Then I go in and tell the HQ to hold)  How do I disable the platoon-style orders?  It's neat but I'm trying to maximize my clicking efficiency here :)

In this game you can't disable the Platoon style orders.

However, if you want other squads in the platoon to move, BUT not the HQ. FIRST give the Engage --> Hold order to the HQ unit. Then go to the individual squads/tanks and give them their Engage --> Move orders.

Thanks

I think he knows how to get around it by adjusting the orders each turn, but is suggesting that there might be a better way to design the UI than that.

Anyhow, didn't I see something about editing the xml and forcing CM style orders?

I have messed around with the XML file for a scenario and changed all the units into HQ's. This allows you to issue individual orders and gets rid of the platoon style orders. A lot of work but if you are creating new scenarios you could easily do this in the editor. Its laborous but a work around for now.

You can't change the demo files and have the game work. Once you get the full game you can. If you want to play against a human, gather your files and put a copy on your Dropbox and have your opponent put them in his game. I recommend JSGME to swap modded files with standard ones.

You can mod textures without a problem but data changes will cause an error and failure for multiplayer games unless you both have the same modded files.

Yeah, but that gives far too many opportunities to get off map artillery contact. Almost every unit now has the ability to call artillery.

And you just gave every squad on the map a radio.

Good Hunting.

If someone buys the game, they should be able to do whatever they want with it. And so we made PCO just so that people can do that.

Right, they can. Just pointing out it's not a benign change.
