The only way I would play w/out a reaction phase is if we get a (Defend->Reverse) or an (Engage->Reverse) option for repositioning certain units in a platoon in the orders phase.

Another thing I like about the Reaction phase is the Target sub order is available for almost all your units during the reaction phase, regardless of the CO Base order. I can order a platoon to advance during the order phase, and if during the Reaction phase I see an enemy unit that the TacAI hasn't engaged, I choose to target it with one of the Tanks in my advancing platoon, and the rest of the platoon will continue to Advance.

thanks

A 40:40 is basically an 80 second turn with the ability to give your units a retreat or targeting order. It's not as bad as it sounds.

Good Hunting.

I don't like it though. I'd rather have full orders every 40 seconds or every 30 seconds. I don't care for this reaction phase so much.

You can't mod the scenarios in the Demo, but once you have the full game, it's pretty easy to modify the scenarios to play the 40:0 turn structure. And even if you don't want to do that yourself, I imagine some others will. You'll just need to convince them to upload them.

Thanks
Rick

If there was enough of a demand I'd do all my scenarios in whatever turn sequences are needed.

Good Hunting.

Mad Russian, what are the implications of turn length and structure for scenario designers? I mean, what does need adjusting when changing the turn structure/length?

and who in the world would want to play an 80 second orders phase AND an 80 second reaction phase? You might as well not even be playing. That's nearly 3 minutes of just sitting there milking goats. [:)]
Someone trying to play very realistically? Instead of being a mobile broadcast chatty cathy barking orders over the radio every minute. Radio triagulation of artillery can make someone speachless.
