Good luck DP, I'm a Japanese fan boy in training I don't know if any of these will help but.....

The 1/33 Infantry Regiment at Amami Oshima is only 21 Av and leaves 167 days after the war starts, you may want to put that to good use in the Phillipines to help lower disruption on landing with bigger units on undefended enemy bases, then put it to work grabbing undefended spots in the PI. My plans have it loading and moving to the SE peninsula of Luzon the first day.

Land at Zamboanga at the earliest opportunity to shut off the LI on Mindanao it starts with 24 AV and some naval LCUs from the South China Sea would work.

The day your landing at Manado and Tarakan divert /Parachute a small amount of AV to Sidate so the Menado force will surrender and Tanjoengselor so the Ternate force will retreat into the jungle and you don't have to chase the other base.

Unfortunately the spare battalion for the 33rd regiment is not present in this DaBabes scenario.

I am landing the 56th division (minus one regiment) at Butuan on Mindanao in three days time. So hopefully because I already hold Davao, I should be able to take Mindanao very Quickly. Also I will use Naval Guard units for garrison duty, so I can concentrate the division.

I have taken Tanjoengselor before Tarakan in previous games, and planned to do the same in this one. But I must admit I had not thought of your Menado/Sidate idea, and will use a similar move in this game thanks.

December 15th,



4th Fleet Area.

The Mobile Striking Force is now moving toward the Marianas Islands area, were it will detach it’s damaged units ( The Carrier IJMS Hiryu, heavy cruiser IJMS Tone, and 2 destroyers.) back to the Home Islands for repair. The Carrier force will also be have a reorganization off Saipan, when it will receive the scout cruiser IJMS Chiyoda and 3 destroyers, while detaching the carrier IJMS Soryu which is joining the Souther Striking Force.


6th Fleet Submarines.

Better luck overnight east of the Hawaiian Islands; when I-9 puts a torpedo into the USN Oiler USS Neches, leaving her with heavy fires. Then to the southeast on the same patrol line; I-26 attacks a small freighter on the surface. I-26 leaves this ship in a sinking condition, after attacking with gunfire and torpedoes.



14th Army Area

Naval action off the Laoag landings again overnight with another attack by Allied fast torpedo boats. This time 2 American boats attack the heavy covering force, but are driven-off with no loss to either side. Then also during the night an American submarine attacks and sinks one of our freighters, but then is counter-attacked by our close escort units and probably sunk.

We launch a JAAF air-raid on Clarke Field from Formosa during the day, and the enemy puts up defending fighters again. In the resulting dogfight 2 American fighters are downed, for the loss of 1 of ours. But our bombers get though without loss, and do heavy damage to the air base.

The 48th division has now completed landing at Laoag, and is now closing on Clarke Field. Over the next few days a convoy containing supporting ground units will land at Laoag. Also in the next few days the 21st division from Shanghai will begin landing at Aparri. Then within the week the 16th division from the Home Islands, will land at various ports on Southern Luzon.



Hong Kong.

The assault today here went very well, with the last of the fortifications being reduced , and three times as many casualties being inflected on the defending British troops. The attack will continue here again tomorrow, again with lavish air and artillery support.



25th Army Area.

JNAAF medium bombers struck at the airfields on Singapore again overnight, but it is unknown if any damage was done. These night raids are thought to do very little damage to the enemy, and will only continue until the airfields at Alor Star come into operation. This will enable us to launch daylight JAAF medium bomber raids to suppress the RAF base on Singapore.

The Suppression of the RAF over Singapore started today, with a offensive fighter sweep over the City launched from Kota Bharu. This sweep was carried out by JNAAF A6M2 fighters, and resulted in the destruction of 7 enemy fighter for the loss of none of ours.

Also a JAAF medium bomber raid on the RAF field at Georgetown, results in more damage to that base. It would now appear that the enemy has withdrawn all their aircraft from here, and also attempting to withdraw some of the his ground units by sea.



15th Army Area

Night raid on the RAF field at Rangoon by JAAF medium bombers results in some light damage to his runways. We will continue this type of raid here for the foreseeable future, because of the presents of the AVG air group. That is until we can get a good Ki-43-Ic fighter group with an air-HQ stationed at Bangkok.



6th Fleet Submarine I-26 -

The Resource storage situation in the Home Islands is causing me some concern, as it is already down to 34 days. Now normally in the stock 1 and 2 campaign scenarios it would still be about 45 to 48 days at this stage. Also as you can see from WitPTracker below, I have some of my convoys up and running, and have been landing resources on Honshu. So I would have expected the storage level to maybe have come up by 1 or 2 days with these deliveries. I will have to keep an eye on this, but at this stage can't see that DaBigBabes is using any more resources than the stock Scenarios.

To the best of my knowledge that stuff was not changed in Babes. There are variants, such as Treespider's mod, which do tackle that. Also, Babes-C cuts down on the carrying capacity of many or all xAK/xAKL (and is the bases for Treespider's mod as well), so if you are using the C variant of Babes then maybe those convoys are carrying somewhat less than you are used to?

Looking at how you have defined your regions, I think you are fine. 

All of the HI is connected except Hokkaido, so resources et. al. flow freely.  You've got another +400K in Kyushu that adds another 10 days or so to your resource stock pile.  This is the reason I put Kyushu, Honshu and Shikoku into one region.  All resources/oil etc are shared.

I don't think this connection was changed in Babes ... was it?

Thanks witpqs, and PaxMondo for your input, I will take your info on-board, and see what the situation is in maybe 30x days time.

I must say so-far that I am liking this DaBigBabes C-campaign, but a lot of the force structures and light shipping is a new learning curve. But of course the goals are still the same, and that is a strong economy, good timely logistics, along with a rapid operational tempo.

December 16th,



4th Fleet Area.


JNAF medium bombers launched from our base on Roi-Namur, bomb the American airfield on Wake Island today. It is reported that this raid caused the enemy light casualties, and put some craters in the runways.



6th Fleet Submarines.


Overnight I-6 attacks, and puts a torpedo into an American freighter while patrolling east of the Hawaiian Islands. It is believed by DivePac Command from enemy signals, that this ship sunk during the day.

Then south of the Australian base of Rabaul, RO- 63 sights, and attacks an Allied transport heading into the Solomon Sea. Unfortunately the 2 torpedoes fired at the transport miss, and the vessel is able to escape into the darkness.



Southeast Fleet Area.


A long-range air-raid was launched today against the Australian airfield at Rabaul, by JNAF G4M1 attack bombers from Truk. The enemy airfield buildings, and runways were reported badly damaged after this raid.



14th Army Area.


Off Laoag the Allies strikes again at our shipping, with their fast torpedo boats in three separate actions. But on each occasion the enemy is driven-off by the heavy covering force, losing 3 of the 4 attacking boats

In the air over Luzon JAAF medium bombers from Formosa raid the port at Subic Bay today, doing significant damage to the port installations there. This is followed by a JNAF attack bomber strike against the Port of Manila, which results in the sinking of a small harbour tanker, and damage to a large floating dry-dock.



Hong Kong.


The ground fighting here today leads to heavy casualties to the enemy, and the assault will continue again tomorrow.



25th Army Area.


Another overnight raid on the airfields at Singapore by JNAF medium bombers operating from Saigon. Because of conditions over the target it is not known what damage was done, but we did lose 1 G3M2 bomber, and have another 2 damaged by enemy flak.

The later in the day a JAAF offensive fighter sweep was launched against Singapore from our base at Kota Bharu. This sweep resulted in the downing of 4 RAF fighters for the loss of 1 of our Ki-43-Ib’s, which crashed on landing at Kota Bharu.

There was a ground action today when our force pushing south down the railway track from Kota Bharu attack an enemy infantry Brigade. This action resulted in the enemy brigade retreading in disarray, and suffering over 700 casualties.



China Area.


Air action over central China today with opposing air-raids on both Changsha by the JAAF, and then against Hankow by the CAF.

The raid against Changsha by the JAAF, which was not opposed by any defending fighters. Resulted in some damage to the Chinese airfield, and the destruction of 2 enemy aircraft on the ground. There was no loss to the attacking JAAF medium bombers and escorting fighters, and all returned to their airfield at Hankow.

The CAF medium bombers escorted by an AVG fighter force attacked our airfield at Hankow, resulting in an aerial battle against our defending JAAF fighters. The dogfight lead to the lose of 1 of our defending Ki-43-Ia fighters, and it is not known if all the enemy aircraft returned to their base safely. But even-though the enemy raid managed to get-through to it’s target, not significant damage was done to our installations.

December 17th,



4th Fleet.


The Mobile Striking Force was reorganizing itself off Spain today, and has dispatched the units damaged off Hawaii (Hiryu, Tone, and 2 destroyers) back to the Home Islands for repair. The carrier Soryu was also sent off to join the Light Carrier Force operating in the Peleliu area. Finally the scout cruiser Chiyoda, heavy cruiser Maya, and a destroyer has joined the Striking Force, to provide extra air-search assets.

After this reorganization, our main carrier force now consists of 4 carriers, 2 fast battleships, 2 heavy cruisers, 1 scout cruiser, 1 light cruiser, and 8 destroyers. This force will now move back to the Wake Island area, to provide air cover and naval support for the landing operation which commences there in 2 days time. Then the plan is for the carriers to go to Truk to cover upcoming operations in the South Seas area.

Just a note here, that it is not my long-term policy to operate the Main Carrier force (KB) as a 4 carrier force for long. It will only be for two months at the most, and then this force will be brought back up to 6 carriers. But at present because of the current force levels of the American Pacific Fleet , I consider a 4 carrier main force strong enough.

The JNAF launched another long-range raid on the American airfield on Wake Island from our base on Roi-Namur today. The enemy airfield and buildings were damaged again by this raid, and all our aircraft return safely to base.



6th Fleet Submarines.


Last night I-9 on it’s patrol line about half way between the Hawaiian Islands and the American West Coast, sights a enemy tanker. I-9 was able to get into position, and fire 4 torpedos at the American tanker. One of these torpedos struck home on the enemy ship, causing serous damage and heavy fires.




Southeast Fleet Area.


Another air-raid was launched against the Australian airfield at Rabaul today, and again the raid was successful, and all our bombers return safely to Truk. But it was noted by this raid that Rabaul appeared to have been evacuated by the enemy. So tomorrow heavy air reconnaissance of Rabaul has been ordered, instead of attacking the airfield again.




16th Army Area.


Today JNAF G4M1 attack bombers operating from Babeldaob, struck at American troops that have reappeared back at Davao on Mindanao. When we took Davao off the Americans on the 13th, and all the enemy troops had been retreated from the area then. But now a new enemy infantry battalion has moved against Davao from the south. This battalion has not assaulted our positions, and we are confident of fighting him off if he dose.





14th Army Area.


No Allied fast torpedo boat attacks off Laoag last night, the first time this has happened since the landings here began on the 9th. But there was action against an enemy submarine that was trying to attack our transports here. The close escort managed to detect and attack this submarine, and we are confident damaged it.

At Legaspi on Southern Luzon, one of our infantry regiments started landing unopposed this morning. Our heavy force covering this landing found 5 enemy freighters in the port loading, these ships were then attacked and all 5 were sunk.

In the afternoon JAAF medium bombers and escorting fighters operating Formosa, struck the enemy airfield at Clark Field. Enemy fighters attempted to defend their base again, but were easily driven off by our fighter escorts. This raid resulted in a number of enemy aircraft being destroyed on the ground, and heavy damage to the airfield installations. Also there was no loss to our attacking aircraft here, and in fact we lost no aircraft at all anywhere today.




Hong Kong.


The British defenders in the city continue to hold our assaults out today, but again were inflected more casualties on enemy than we lost. The assault on Hong Kong will continue again tomorrow, then we will rest the infantry for two or three days before the final effort.




25th Army Area.


Only significant action in Malaya today was an offensive fighter sweep by the JAAF against Singapore. The RAF put fighters into the air to oppose this sweep again, and in the resulting dogfight 4 enemy aircraft were downed for no loss to us.




China Area.

Again CAF medium bombers with AVG fighter escort raided our airfield at Hankow today, and our defending JAAF fighters tangled with the escort. The enemy raid did manage to get though, but did no damage to the airfield, probably because of the harassment of our defending fighters. We lost none of our defending fighters, but also didn’t manage to down any of the enemy attackers.

The CAF also launched a medium bomber raid on Canton today, but this one was unescorted. Our defending JAAF fighters, including a special trial flight of new Ki-44 fighters managed to down 4 of the attackers. Again no damage was done to our airfield installations, and none of our aircraft were lost.

4th Fleet Area.

The JNAF sent a detachment of G3M2s medium bombers from Roi-Namur to raid the enemy airfield on Wake Island today. The runways were well cratered again, and all our aircraft returned safely from this long-range raid.



6th Fleet Submarines.

Success for I-168 off Christmas Island over night, when She sighted and was able to attack the large American transport President Monroe. In the first of two attacks I-168 was able to close and launch 2 torpedoes at the enemy transport, 1 of which struck the ship doing considerable damage.

In the second attack later in daylight, I-168 was able to find President Monroe which was stopped dead in the water. I-168 launched 2 more torpedoes at the enemy ship, 1 of which struck home, putting the transport on fire. I-168 then observed the transport settling in the water, and being abandoned by the crew and a large number of enemy troops.

Overnight east of the Hawaiian Islands I-6 spotted an enemy task-force which appeared to include a damaged battleship heading northeast. But I-6 was spotted and attacked by some of the escorting destroyers, and kept down while the other ships passed. I-6 was undamaged after this depth-charge attack, and has been ordered to pursue the American task force.

More success overnight when RO-64 south of Gasmata in the Solomon Sea sighted the Australian troop carrier Westralia. RO-64 was then able to launch 2 torpedoes at the enemy, both of which hit the transport, causing heavy damage and many fires on the ship.



14th Army Area.

The heavy battle force covering the landings at Legaspi came across an American tanker trying to flee the area, which was quickly sunk by gunfire.

Our troops that landed at Legaspi yesterday, managed to secure the town and port today. This units mission is now to advance , and secure the port at Atimonan for the landings of the rest of this regiment’s division.

Also our forces advancing down the west-coast of Northern Luzon, captured the town of San Fernando, which the enemy had abandoned.



Hong Kong.


The big news today was in Hong Kong, which we captured today by our assaulting troops. All the surviving British and Canadian troops that were defending the city were forced to surrender. Surprisingly it was found that because of the rapid capture of the port area, the enemy was unable to carry-out very little demolition work.



2nd Fleet Submarines.

Just south of the Makassar Strait off Kangean, I-122 was patrolling when she spotted a large Allied transport heading south out of the Strait. Our submarine was able to get into position and fire 2 torpedoes at the enemy ship, 1 of which hit the ship. The Transport which was identified as Kota Agoeng was heavy damaged and put on fire, and was reported by the enemy as sunk today.



China Area.


The enemy AVG fighter group which is operating about 40+ modern P-40 type fighters, from the airfield at Changsha, along with the CAF launched two raids against our airbase at Hankow today. The first was a fighter sweep by the AVG which shot-down 5 of our defending fighters, for only 1 loss to the enemy. The the enemy launched a CAF medium bomber raid escorted by some AVG fighters, and this raid destroyed 1 of our aircraft on the ground.

Our strategy at Hankow is going to be; not to contest the bomber raids from now on, while building up our modern fighter and bomber strength in the area. In the meantime a Group of Ki-48-Ibs at Hankow, and another group of Ki-21-IIs at Shanghai will carry-out night raids on Changsha.

December 19th,



4th Fleet Area.

Today JNAF G3M2 medium bombers operating at long-range from our base on Roi-Namur, bombed the positions of the defending marine battalion on Wake Island, with all aircraft returning safely to base . Meanwhile the Landing and covering forces for the operation to take Wake, are now gathering to the West of the Island, and will start the landings on the day after tomorrow.


6th Fleet Submarines.

Overnight I-6 which is patrolling well to the east of the Hawaiian Islands spotted a large American Transport, which has been identified as the Harris. Our submarine was able to close and launch 2 torpedoes at the enemy transport, but unfortunately both torpedoes missed, and the vessel was able to escape into the darkness.




Southeast Fleet Area.


Because air reconnaissance of the Australian base at Rabaul is showing that the enemy ground forces are now absent, we are going to launch a quick landing at the enemy port. A hastily put together landing force containing a battalion detachment of a naval guard unit, has just departed from Truk heading toward Rabaul. The South Sea Cruiser Force will join this landing force on route to Rabaul, to provide cover from the Allied cruisers that were previously operating in the area.




16th Army Area.


JNAF G4M1 attack bombers from our base in the Peleliu Islands bombed the American/Filipino infantry battalion outside Davao again today. Then after the raid our defending SNLF battalion attacked and drove-off this enemy unit from the Davao area.

The 56th division commenced it’s landings today, at Butuan just east of the American base of Cagayan in northern Mindanao. Even though air-reconnaissance at previously showed no enemy units at Butuan, an American/Filipino infantry regiment was discovered present on landing. But it would appear that this enemy regiment was passing though the area, as it is seen to be withdrawing to the south




14th Army Area.


The JAAF launched a heavy medium bomber air raid on the American airfields at Manila today, causing damage to buildings and runways, and with all our aircraft returning safely to their airfields on Formosa.

Then later in the day a detachment of JNAF G4M1 attack bombers flying from Formosa, struck at at some American fast attack boats off Vigan. These enemy fast torpedo boats were badly damaged, and dead in the water, but strangely our aircraft were unable to obtain any bomb hits.



2nd Fleet Submarines.


Last night I-123 operating in the southern part of the Makassar Strait, spotted and attacked on the surface a small Dutch cargo ship. I-123 engaged the enemy ship with her main gun, and managed to obtain 10 hits, leaving this vessel in a sinking condition. Then just to the west in the Southern Java Sea I-122 attacked and obtained 2 torpedo hits on an Allied transport, also leaving this enemy vessel in a sinking condition.



China Area.


Tit-for-tat bombing raids between the CAF, and JAAF again today in China with opposing raids on Changsha and Hankow. But it appears that no aircraft were lost by either side, and also no significant was done to the opposing airfields.

PDU is on there PaxMondo, and I don't think I'd like to play with it off. I know some of the current thinking among AFBs, is that Japan can build too many airframes in this game. But I like to think what could have been if Japan had got their act together, and rationalized their aircraft industry. Also in this game everything has a cost, so if I do build these extra aircraft, I have to pay the HI to do it. On top that I also have to train the pilots to fly these extra aircraft

OK, so with PDU ON, two schools of thoughts: "focus your builds" or "distribute your builds".  You seem to be of the "distribute your builds" group.  Say that as I see that you are looking to build Nick, Tojo, and Tony in addition to Oscar.  Be interesting to watch how this goes for you. 

Just to clarify my policy on my airframe build;

First I am a firm believer in an 1E/2E altitude layered form of fighter defence, especially tailored to meet local circumstances. Also I think that the 4 main series of early 1E/2E fighters have different mission profiles.

Namely in that the Ki-43 I use as mainly a long-range escort fighter, to CAP smaller forward airfields, and for 'soft sweeps'.

The Ki-44 I use as a air-superiority fighter for the 'hard targets', that is escort/CAP/sweep from an type of airfield.

The Ki-61 I consider as a specialist air-superiority CAP fighter from main airbases with good aviation support.

Finally I use the Ki-45 for anti-4E bomber CAP, apart from its strike 'hard target' strike roll.
