Wouldn't LSD's help quicken unloading?

According to the manual (pg. 128), AP/AKs unload at a rate of 600 points per ship per turn and xAP/xAKs unload at a rate of 250 points per ship per turn. As a comparison, APA/AKAs unload at at rate of 3000! [X(]

This is in an amphibious TF.

And not only APA/AKA unload really fast, but after they are empty, they will increase unload rate of other ships in TF. This models the use of integrated landing crafts in APA/AKA to unload other ships too (this only happens after APA/AKA is empty, though). I don't recall if AP/AK is able to do that too.

Don Bowen:

The amphibious types (APA, etc) have their own landing craft that give them the increased unloading capability. These landing craft are not directly represented, just part of being an APA. Also note that once an APA is unloaded, it's "landing craft" can assist in the unload of other ships in the TF.

The Japanese do get a couple of LSDs later on. They are useful if you need to counterinvade in '43!

I remember back in WITP only AGC with an amphibious HQ can reduce the disruption and losses when landing.
I think things changed in AE. So if the bonus of vessels don't affect the disruption and losses. Does it mean even Japan can do the same thing in later stage of war? All they need to do is well prepared for the target, use lots of ships to fast the unloading process. And they will suffer small disruption and losses when land? This doesn't sound good to me :)

Yes, in theory. But they will be attacking Allied 44 units, which are a whole lot different that Allied 42 units. You better bring a big whupping stick to the party.

It seems to me that landing unprepped units with small LC not only unloads them much faster but lessens the amount of disruption and losses as well. Anyone else experience this?

They are for a 12 hour pulse.

The manual say per day, but I suspect you are correct.

Mike -

looked in the manual to be sure:

6.3.3.2.1 Item Load Rate, Page 124

Rates given are for a 12-hour phase. A TF will load during both phases of a day if necessary, or may finish loading in one phase and begin movement in the other.
