Shouldn't good news normally come in 3s?

Our Admiral has proven to be exceptional, he is eager to improve his skills against the Kiadian nuisance.

We have found a colony of Mortalens who are not space faring but are clearly a colony spoken of in legend, we should bring them in to our glorious Empire but the Kiadian's are refusing to allow us! Claiming border rights!

Our scientists bring us amazing news. This takes us one step closer to phaser technology our scientists are theorising about.

A look at our characters a few years in to the game.
These will appear at different rates depending on race.

My scientists assure me this is the path to take for the most amount of WIN. I'm inclined to agree.

So I don't need to keep an eye on every little thing those socially inept scientists are up to I have given them instructions on policy that I expect to be followed.

This could be our chance to get the power to blast these Kiadians so hard they will only ever want to serve the power of our Kingdom.
We shall go and try to claim some of these mysterious ships for our own.

An important event for our Empire, we shall have to see how this new leader will affect our Empire's future.

Who is this fool?!
Some of my empire helped a coup to put this weak bellied skink in to power?!
even with my immense influence I cannot get rid of him until some time after an event like this.
I'm going to somehow have to learn to live with this herbivore for a while.

More on this game soon.
Let me know if I'm not covering what you want to see in the game and if you have any suggestions for me to improve this preview.

Good AAR.The new borders system is looking a great addition to gameplay.
I would like to see this diplomacy system. It looked like the eggheads disliked you and then offered a trade treaty.[&:]
Is a coup just random or is there a system behind it.losing a great leader to an out of the blue random is not cool.I think morale should factor.A Mortalen pacifist also leading a coup is not really fisible either. Are traits species based?

Yes the borders is really affecting me in this one, I want that Mortalen world! I could wait and see if they take it and then go to war with them, not sure yet, don't think I'm ready to even think about going for his home world.
The egg heads had reduced their misunderstanding of me at the point they offered a treaty, every race that meets a different race doesn't understand them for a while and gradually comes to accept them, this is shown as the modifier you saw that slowly goes to 0. Remember also Kiadian's are a friendly race.
There are changes of leaders at different points, it is random but affected by things, such as what type of government and other obvious factors (how well you are doing etc.). Leaders shouldn't change so often that it has a massive affect on your game but don't expect amazing King Zak Brannigan to be your leader forever. The other thing is Mortalens are slightly different to other races and this means they are more likely to change their leader, don't choose them if you like to nurture an amazing leader, it's part of their flavour
Not sure about if traits are species weighted.
In my experience an Atuuk Admiral is likely to be lacking.... I can't tell you what the exact system is behind this.

Regarding Leader change, the leader will not be easily remove in a dictatorship empire and leaders can be changed frequently in a republic?

Thanks for posting this AAR.

Great to see the improvements. The Mortalens are one of my favourite races.

Oh man! This is looking ace!
And I thought Skyrim was great! Surely the gods of games are in good mood this year.
The Zhatar Zhukziban looks like a real chump. Away with this weakling! Peop... I mean Mortalen demand blood! [:D]
Too bad you probably have to stomp my favourite Kiadians.
Still, can't wait to see some more.
