Here's an idea...

How about putting a working beta-version together, and then fretting over the title?[;)]

Ah come on, where's your imagination? [;)]

Command Ops: Operational Art of War Winter Wonderland
Command Ops: Where the Iron Crosses Grow
Command Ops: Where Reputations are Made (or Broken)
[:D]

Seriously, it's a shame that A Victory Lost, Red Star Rising or Enemy At the Gates are already used by - very good - board games. Command Ops: Fire Brigade is a nice title as well. One more dramatic title could be Command Ops: Frozen Hell.

How about Command Ops: Fires on the Chir?

Actually Dave, I was thinking that Fire Brigade would have been an excellent title but you've already used it<g>.

Command Ops: Hinge of Fate

Command Ops: Stemming the Tide on the Chir

I like the first one because the battles on the Chir represent the turning point where the action on the Eastern Front generally led westward. Hinge of Fate was the Title of one of the Volumes from Churchill's history of the second world war.

Battles in the East: Fire on the Chir

I like. Any other Eats front tile could then fall under the Battles in the East heading.

I think the title shouldn't presume a defeat nor should it have Red in it. Needs to be neutral and possibly have the area of operations in it.

Okay, then can we assume that this is gonna be some sort of series of Eastern Front titles? If so, perhaps you can focus on the force commanders for each game, Command Ops: ***** vs *****

Just to clarify that the series name will be Command Ops. So we jut need a simple title for this particular game. Yes there hopefully will be multiple titles focusing on the east front battles just like there has been on the west front battles. However, I'm not about to add another "sub-series" name to the mix.

I thought as much Dave.

Then it has to be really short and sweet otherwise the name will be to long.

Command Ops. Some Desperate Glory (thought this doesn't give a clue to the theatre of ops)
Command Ops. Stabilising the front (could be...Chir front or East front)
Command Ops Fury on the Chir
Command Ops. Fury on the Eastern Front
Command Ops Desperation at Chir
Command Ops. Desperate battles on the Eastern front
COmmand Ops. Winterstorm Inferno
Command Ops. Chir, Tug of War
Command Ops. Nemesis in the east (Or Nemesis at Chir)
COmmand Ops. Armegeddon unleashed (Armegeddon at Chir)
Command Ops. Thermopylae in the eastern front (taken for geobbles STanlingrad defeat speach)
Command Ops. Storm on the Steppes (Taken for geobbles Stalingrad defeat speach)
Command Ops. CHir, start of Total War (Again for speech)
Command Ops. Stand fast or Strike hard dichotomy of command
Command Ops. Savagery of the battles at Chir.
COmmand Ops Savagery at Chir
Comand Ops. Fateful days at Chir, Dec to Feb 43.
COmmand Ops. The Stakes are High battles at chir dec42-feb43
Command Ops. Winterstorm the greatest test.
COmmannd Ops. The Fateful battles at Chir.
COmmand Ops. WInterstorm the greatest test
COmmand Ops. The Bear strikes back
COmmand Ops. Chir, A new phase in the East
COmmand Ops. Chir, The Juggernaught Strikes.
Command Ops. Chir, rise of the motherland.
Command Ops Chir, the pendulem swings
Command Ops. CHir, battle of heroes.
Command Ops. Chir, A test of resolve.
COmmand Ops. Chir, shifitng fortunes in the east
ommand Ops. Chir, Fortunes of War
COmmand Ops Chir, A Test of Will
Command Ops Chir, Battle of Wills.
Command Ops. CHir, Savagry and resolve Dec 42-Feb 43

Alla th above you could chnage Chir to Winterstorm and out the dates at the end.

Blimey it's difficult.

Right now I don't have a title in mind and I also don't really like any of the others but that's simply because I don't know what this east front game will cover.
It was talked about the Chir but looking at the map here:
tm.asp?m=2983151#
we are not even near the Chir.
Anyhow if we could get a clear picture of what area, time and forces are cover I bet that titles that fit much better would come up, a lot of what we have now could also be used to cover any other time and place on the east front.
Personally I thing the title should really stand for what will be shown in the game, just like "German flood", "Hot Winter", "Thru the forest" aren't the right titles for BftB a lot of the other ones aren't the right title for what I think is cover in this east front game.

Well Dave said something about the battles at Chir in the link you've posted. So I went along with it.

Quote below for Dave

"Hi all,

Since a number of people are asking I will try and provide a little more information about our East Front game we are now working on.

Scale = same as BFTB - ie company sized line units with platoon support units.
Period = late 1942/early 1943
Battles = post Stalingrad Soviet offensives along the Chir river and the German counter-attacks that followed.
Map Area = see picture below

Command Ops: Red Tide Rising

Command Ops: Tsunami in the East (or South)

Command Ops: Tsunami along the Chir

Command Ops: Beyond Stalingrad -- High Tide in the East (or South)

Command Ops: The Bear Strikes Back (tongue in cheek)
