I still have 1000s of minatures, mainly 15mms but also 5 and 25mm but no WWII.
I used to own a firm that made 15mms in late '70s/early '80s until I became respectable.[;)]
Many years since I did figure gaming but good to see these pics of proper toys

They look fantastic. Still surprised people still wargame with miniatures though. When wargames like Combat Mission came out I didn't really see the interest in our group or club for that matter. Well in the gaming side of things. Certainly the modeling and painting aspects are a separate entity in itself.

I definately think the modeling and painting aspects are primary purpose most miniature enthusiasts take to there particular choice of mini ETF. Finding someone who plays 'your' brand of miniatures has always been a bane in my side. But that just gave me a bigger incentive to make more mini's....enough for someone else to use if there they didn't have any [:D].

I finished it last week so here's a picture. The post below is to show a game last weekend with a friend with the terrain I've got (not that much).

I'm glad to see others are into this, too.
When I was looking into FoW, I bought a "prototype" model to work on and see how the kits are in general. This is a Stug III I got.
When I was visiting my son at Monot AFB, we took a day trip to Bismarck, and one of the hobby shops there was selling their FoW stuff at half price. I wound up spending $100 there. If/When I get into this in depth, I'm going to build a US Army group.
I hadn't built any WWII models since I started my Warhammer FB/40k habits. I'm currently going back with a 1/700 USS San Francisco. One thing about wargame miniatures is that my painting skills have improved quite a bit. I'm not done with the Stug yet, but I used good 'ol Tamiya arcrylics and Citadel washes. I don't know about taking pics of my models. What was looking good with the naked eye now has every glaring imperfection shown with a hi-res camera. [:(] The combo of the camera and the lighting makes it look rougher than it is when seeing it in person.

I thought that using the MGs from the Infantry Division Support/MG Battalion in an indirect fire role was a somewhat common practice in Commonwealth armies, even going back to WW1? Don't know if they had the effect of 81mm mortar rounds, but it was more a way to deny the enemy use of/movement through certain areas.

wish I had been there. Would have bought myself tons of russians and germans [:)]
Anyway, don't use Tamiya for hand painting. They are horrible for that. They are SUPERB for air brushing though. I include a pic in this post with Tamiya Kaki airbushed on my soviets. After that I use Vallejo for the rest (paint brushing). Vallejo is SUPERB for hand painting.
BTW, this is a pic of my Soviet rifle/MG unit.

I remember back in the 70's and 80's playing with mini's.
We used some rules/dies ect was very detailed.
Great stuff brings back allot of good memoirs.

No, I am currently building/painting a 76mm arty battery that can double as anti-tank too depending on how I decide to use them in an army. But I don't think they can do both in an army, I have to choose. So four 76mm pieces, arty crew, spotters and bases to paint and I hope to be finished late January.
After that I have about four blisters of soviet inf to do, a Sturmovik and some tanks where I will try some new stuff painting wise. So I have Soviets for 6-12 months depending on how inspired I feel. My brother also gave me some germans to paint (lazy bastard).
