For the historic game:
Fixed Japanese Production - No changes to factories but you still have the feed the beast to prevent collapse. - Factories would auto upgrade to new types and auto expand based on historic levels.

Variable production of items. Rather than a fixed amount per month a variable amount based on a ramp up or a fall off of production (value by the month or year).

For the what if game:
Allied player control of factories like the Japanese player.

I'd love to see this.

1. Allow waypoints to be set for bombardment missions.

2. LCU stacking limits in stock scenarios.

3. Spend a goodly sum from the treasury on enough model kits and detail sets to last me the rest of my life, and finally get myself a 1969 396 SS Chevelle.

Good point, Treespider. A lot of these suggestions (even my own) go beyond tweaks. Perhaps a true tweak suggestion is to work on the "no supply in bases, tons of supply out in the bush" problem. However, per the PzB vs Andy thread even that involves some tough coding, IIRC.

Perhaps another tweak would be eliminating the 250 air support points can support infinite air groups rule. Might help with the mass air strikes problems.

When I set a patrol zone, the map automatically snaps to the last point entered when I set the next (When you click point 2 - it automatically snaps to the locale of point 1)

Alas, unless someone was part of the programming team (or has programming experience at all) it's really hard to tell what constitutes tweak, and what would take major overhauls to accomplish.

That said... looking at my post I think two of my desires are well beyond tweak status heh. But my desire for a LCU taskforce type function... see I have no idea. That might be eminently accomplishable with minor effort. Or it might again require major overhauling to do.

Another thing I would love to see is bridges implemented. I suspect the game would need major work to implement bridges, but who knows [:D]

Oo, another idea. Bookmarked snap points (ty vettim89 with your patrol snap idea which gave me this one). Like say you're basing subs out of soerbaja and sending em to patrol around japan. While setting waypoint be able to hit a key you've bookmarked to a specific hex and have the map jump to that point instead of needing to click on the map or scroll there. Minor time saver, but with the amount of patrol setting you do it could add up.

I just want a good assistant.

The odd message like:

"The boys in Akyab are a bit tired of flying CAP"

"The boys on Saratoga are wondering why you're asking them to train each day when the KB has been sighted 6 hexes away"

"The 44th British Brigade wonders why you rushed them to Karachi only to sit there playing chess for 10 days"

Reminds me in the WItP stock days I was in the process of painting a bedroom and would get my son to sit in front of the computer whilst the turn was running and call out the combat reports:

" Dad - Japanese TF sighted near Palmyra"
"Okay press enter"

The ability to build/upgrade road and rail links.

A mechanism that gives increased experience to leaders after a successful battle, and possibly takes them down a peg or two if they really screw up in combat[:)]

A big step would be an easy multiplayer interface

.. if the war is running 24hours / 7 days per week in real time

each theatre can be handed to a different player

I would like the computer AI Japanese player to actually run supply (all types) convoys to keep Japan supplied as well as possible. Seems like something doable since the game has been out for 7-8 years now.

I would also like the AI player to have access to HIS data so that when errors occur they can be repaired, or so that he can tweak whatever he feels like tweaking without having to start the game over again.

1. Being able to improve roads.

2. A better "Sigintel" system.

once there is real-time multiplayer (literally real-time.. 1 second is 1 second)

then AI will dissappear

i would make this a real-time 8 player game .. a lot more interactive and social than pbem is

the ultimate evolution 20-30 years from now is the ability to pop into the cockpit of AC like in battle of britain 2

For AE I vote a modern UI (probably too much coding work) or some option in between PDU Off "Nateapalooza" and PDU On "IJ Star Wars."
[:D] +1

For me . . .

1. simplify, simplify, simplify: Anything that helps the player through the turn with fewer clicks, without a major effect on gameplay. "Land Task Forces" are a great idea. The ability to combine air squadrons into groups. Automatic withdrawal of departing air and naval units, unless the player spends PP to keep them in theater.

2. Leaders: Kill them, promote them, let them advance from ship/unit to HQs command, yank them when they were sent to Europe.

I would like to increase the viewable size of the map to fit 1920x1200 (not increase the size of the hexes).

Create a shortcut on your desk top to the AE exe in your folder...then right click on the shortcut and in the target field add the command prompts as below...

"C:\Matrix Games\DBB WitP AE 031712\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -f -px1920 -py1200

...assuming your monitor supports 1920x1200

Describe "better"...sounds subjective.

Break down supply and resources into more detail like avitation fuel, ammo, tanks, guns, small arms, rubber etc etc.

Now you have gone and done it! [8D]

Automagically or by player control? ...I recall a Civil War game where the leaders progressed... I forget the mechanism...however what made it interesting was some leaders were better suited for Corps Command and got worse as they were promoted...whereas others were better suited for Army Command and their numbers got better.

Would be kind of cool to see something similar...wherein some leaders are better commanding more units and some get worse with more units.

So perhaps a commander is ideal with 3 Division equivalents providing his Skill to, however at 4 or 5 units his skills begin to diminish...perhaps he and staff are overwhelmed.

Just about anything would be an improvement over a system that tells me that there are 10,000 soldiers on Iwo Jima......2 months after I took Iwo Jima. This system is adequate and a person can get some useful intel at times (if they are the allies), but it could really use some work in that area.

3. Also, do away with the pp system except for changing commands of restricted units. Using pp's to change the command of a base doesn't make sense, since there isn't any Command and Control based on HQ or Base assignments. The only people that get punished are us "obsessive compulsive" people that like organization.

4. Or have a Command & Control system where HQ and Base assignments matter.

Automagically, I guess. Although a player option to kill my incompetent pixel leaders would be nice [;)]

Eventually having leaders' ratings change as they move up the chain of command would be nice. For now, I'd be delighted to have a system that accepts that Spruance and Halsey commanded task forces then HQs, and that "Lightning Joe" Collins started the war as a Colonel, was commanding a division in short order, left to the ETO, and returned as a three-star General commanding a corps.
