The only time Germany ever had a powerful navy...it was more powerful than the US navy during that war...and was second in size only to Britain's.
My second choice would be a military/political game for the Frederician years...1740-1786

A WWI Game is on the way.

Pure Fiction.
Do you honestly think that the UK would have allowed the Nazis to set a foot on the Island without a fight even supposing that the RAF had been defeated, the German infantry would have to land.
Where?
Why didn't the Armada succeed?
And England didn't have a surplus of old dispensible battleships to plough onto the landing beaches in 1588.
Can you imagine the carnage when a dozen old battleships steam through an invasion fleet of E-boats and landing craft?
That is, of course, supposing that the Germans could navigate the tides.............

I wish these guys would upgrade the graphics to the 21st century and get rid of those "INF: 24" things and replace it with "INF: 2,400,000" or something...
I'm feeling picky this early in the morning.

That the Germans didn't land is historical fact.
But then so much of the battle was just incredible chance.
They didn't attack the radar installations with enough enthusiasm.
They attacked the cities at the moment the RAF was about to collapse.
The Royal Navy was there yes, but then so too was the German Airforce, which if they had made the RAF collapse, would have been able to attack the Royal Navy is a glut of carnage.
The Spanish armada burning would look like a picnic compared to the German Airforce sinking the Royal Navy.
And WWII has way to many examples of planes sinking wholesale, major capital ships under worse conditions.
That the Germans were ill prepared to land a major modern army is no news flash, but then, the British didn't exactly have a major modern army of any worth while size sitting in England to do a lot about even a lame invasion.
The British survived just like the Allies survived a great many other examples of thin luck.

Adanac Command Studies is really just one guy, Frank Hunter. And I think he deliberatly designs his games to have a boardgame feel, so you're not going to see lot's of fancy graphics and sound effects. The graphics are functional, which is just fine by me, because it's the game mechanics that are far more important, IMHO.

More of that: "what if" are very interrestive situations. Some games were based on what if's: SSI's Seelöwe; Mississipi Burning; World War Three...I like that. You've not limit to your imagination...

Yes, I noticed it is a small shop. However, I expect some sort of modern features in a game. I won't bother playing a game looking like it came from the past (except WiR). Sorry.
If the graphics are adequate for you, go ahead and buy it. I will wait for a WWI game that looks decent. I don't need fancy graphics, just decent looking like in UV. Actually, I turned off the special effects in UV as they give no added value to me and just take time.
However, if the UV map looked like the one in Guadalcanal Campaign (ok, a slight exaggeration), I'd skip the game right away.

I'd like any game that gives one a chance to invade England...
This brings me to ponder...Do ya think the Brits built demolition charges or floodgates into the Chunnel just in case things there got dicey?

I'm thinking it would be pretty easy to destroy without all that. Just run a train in packed with explosives. Park an old sub packed with explosives above it and detonate it. Etc, etc.
I agree with Sarge whatshisname

A WWI Naval game along the lines of GNBNA would be nice. The ability to have strategic overlay with tactical battles for surface ships where both sides were relatively even would be challenging, especially if there was decent AI.

I agree with DoomedMantis! A WW I naval game as he described would be great!
