OK, but, I would like to go on record, that I think UI issues should be first priority. Make it look 100% polished. It is so close as it is.
Beyond the UI, there are really just a handfull of serious programming or data issues that mess up game play.

Phillip Wells,
Item 11 on your list can be removed.
I ran across this again, and as it turns out, it was only happening on one particular gun, and I had gomered the data, so there really wasn't any issue at all.
Thanks,
Stwa
p.s. doesn't look like much feedback from the fans. Me thinks this might mean no update.

Steve McClaire,
One thing I was thinking you might answer now.
If you changed CCMT to handle rectangular maps, that might require a new vertical slider bar, and I just cant see where this could be shoe horned into the Map Info screen.
Also, you mentioned graphic items (like a screen pix) cannot be changed as part of the update.
So, I conclude, support for rectangular maps, will not really be included, if their is an update.
Just wanted to ask, since I am thinking I wanted to add some 3rd party maps to my collection, and I am anticipating they must be square, as before.

Another thing,
I have problems with pre-planned artillery strikes. Actually, its the smoke portion, when you mark the barrage.
Most of the time, it just freezes after you hit begin and never goes away. Once in a while it works.
Could be my video card, but I was wondering if anyone else had this problem as well.

Hi Stwa,
It's not impossible that we'll add support for non-rectangular maps. And changing CCImages.pix isn't out of the question either. But we're focusing on fixing problems, rather than adding new features. It all comes down to time available.
Thanks for the additional information, though.

1. The features which were available in the military version of the game, namely IEDs, civilians and edit-able individual soldiers.
2. I read what you write at the top about not adding a strat layer, but what about an exportable saved game file compatible with MMCCIII ?

OK [:D]
It seems like you Chumps have decided to blow off the update ... AGAIN.
So, I was wondering if maybe you could take time from your busy [cough, cough] schedules, and check to see if pre-planned artillery works correctly. If it doesn't, perhaps you can fix it and issue a hot fix for registered members.

We are currently planning an update to Close Combat Modern Tactics which is tentatively scheduled for release towards the end of this year.
At the moment the update is planned to include the AI and pathfinding changes that went into the 'mega-update' releases for the other Close Combat titles. But I would also like to get feedback from the community on other areas where we could improve the game.
So if you have thoughts or comments, please feel free to post them here and let me know.
Thanks!
Steve
Hi
how is the progress with this update, and when is the possible release day.

Hi guys. Its hard for me to get used to posting over here.
This is a great title, but it just seems there is not enough of a user base to justify even an update. You can't fault Matrix, for running their business with a profit motive.
Its not like we have been that adament with the complaints either, but there just aren't that many of us, and even at CCS most people just prefer the other CC games more. Way more, in fact.

Did you ever fix the bug where infantry on normal speed slide across the map when crawling? I posted about it several years back, but it never got fixed. I think some jackalope that worked for Matrix even told me that I was doing it wrong and the game wasn't meant to be played on normal.
That really ticked me off. If you could address that crawling bug on normal speed that'd be great.

Edit - Here is the thread. It is from 2007. That was 7 years ago, and why I don't purchase Matrix re-release, new re-releases anymore.

I've got all the Close Combat remakes. Modern Tactics is my favourite. Why? Because it is so easy to create & set up a scenario. I like that you can create your own objectives and deployment zones. My main concern, however, is with the AI. As in all the CC games I've played, the AI does not offer a single-player challenge. In the last few days I played scenarios in 5 different CC games (with realism set to 100%) and the same thing happened in all of them -- the AI either shuffled its units around aimlessly or carelessly pushed them forward into my line of fire. It's a shame because I really love the overall design and features in the game.
As for things I'd like added. How about ...
- Mouse-wheel zoom?
- Being able to Pause the game and then scroll the map without it reactivating the game clock?
- Ability to add reinforcements -- perhaps with an added "percentage" of reliability (as in the John Tiller Squad Battles games)?
- Expanded/revised units & equipment?
- More voices added? For example, some mod adds UK units but they use the US voice-audio files.
- More maps?
- Remove the need to place deployment zones for all five teams when in single-player?
- When saving a custom scenario in the Editor -- make the Editor remember the file name?
- Larger map preview in the Editor, in order to allow better siting of objectives & deployment zones?

CCMT is the one game where you can easily create scenarios that the Human Player just cannot win.
And you don't always have to give the AI more stuff either. But, most of time that does do the trick. [:D]
