Yeah, looks like Legends of Pegasus is yet another game released before its time. This generally happens when devs run out of money, and need to release, regardless of what state the game is in.
Considering DW's dev team is approximately 1 person, presumably running out of money to pay that dev team isn't really an issue. [;)]

I'm looking at quality of 4x games this year and I'm afraid for destiny of next expansion for DW.

I too think it's silly to judge DW by looking at rubbish produced by completely unrelated devs.
When I first discovered DW I was in love, that love continues to this day and will do for a while yet.

Firstly, I am really, truely, madly excited about the upcoming expansion. Feeling quite confident that the developers will keep the tradition of releasing solid pieces and keeping the fans happy. Was always happy about the pirate concept in any 4x games and obviously more than happy if those get polished and more sophisticated in DW.
Oh...and deeper diplomacy please. More options to play and negotiate with. Planets to trade.... galactic senate would be nice.... Pirates could get special 'proposals' from the players involving carrying out special/specific tasks and not just general attack the other empire deal...for example, attack a certain port or help defend the system... ahhhh
Anyways, about other games... Yeah... Wasted too much of my hard-earned cash on some crappy 4x games this year. As always, dw remains my fav. Like some lass one keeps going back to cause she does it best. [:D][:D]

A quick question: is there any plan to bundle the base game and the prior expansions with the new one?
I'd consider a purchase under those circumstances, but spending 75 dollars for three expansions, or 120 dollars for the entire package, is simply not something that I'm willing to do. (I do own the base game.) I suspect that I'm not alone.

I'm hoping the new expansion will improve combat gameplay. I would love if it made combat more tactical, rather then just throw heaps of units at each other and see wha happens.

One may 'hire' pirates to attack a friendly/hostile empire's assets without revealing the true perpetrator empire....wish a player had such an option even against its own allies. [:)]

If that happens blueberry I have a book you might want to read,
Man, I can just feel the love [;)]
Imagine hiring pirates not knowing that they are feeding information to your enemy and spreading half truth's back to you or other factions. Why?! It is due to the fact they have another empire's spy working with them and he/she brings a whole new bag of tricks and traits.
Imagine, freighter routes and mining bases start having problems with missing inventory, quietly of course. You can watch as pirates attack or loot a specified freighter/base and if in visual range, watch independent transports pick up the stolen cargo and take the ill-gotten bounty back to their masters. Are they being helped? Who knows...
Meanwhile behind the curtain, trades you made with a friend slowly make their way into the enemies hands or other pirate factions. Third party arms deals are the rage and your quietly in denial.
Only by sheer luck an informant uncovers the problems but is it to be believed? Are the culprits the true criminals? Cloak and dagger into paranoia anyone?
Will it turn you towards the dark side to get your revenge? Are you willing to stoop down into hiring pirates that preform cold war thievery?
Look! Says the devil on your shoulder.
"One of your neighbor's has something you desperately need and war can be so expensive. Just take the plunge down the rabbit hole and plant a spy with the pirates. A friendly direction to skim the needed resources or attack and loot a freighter would not hurt, would it? No one will know?[X(]"
Naw, way too much scripting involved. Lets go back to basic trading and auto-upgrading of pirate factions.[:)]

That is not the kind of hint I was hoping for.. *sigh*
The legendary pirates just don't make sense. I guess they must be from the pre-virus age, but why (and how) do they suddenly appear out of thin air?
I am disabling the legendary pirates in all of my games, so I don't want more of that silliness in the expansion.. [8|]
(But don't get me wrong - I assume there will be disable options in next expansion as well, so I'll happily disable some additional scuvy-dogs to play with a the other awesome things you have on that list...)

Aren't pirate mercenaries referred to as Privateers?
Could be interesting. Perhaps we could pay to take control of a group of pirate ships for an arranged period of time. Could be very useful early game. Of course the faction you attack would have no idea it's you that's attacking them. However the pirates would be incredibly unpredictable and could attack you if another faction has paid more.
And what of.....
Boarding Parties!!!
However, I hope this isn't all the new expansion will focus on. I'd like to see alot more diplomatic options. Including trading of colonies. I'd really like to see a diplomatic option a step beyond MDP. A membership alliance where an empire agrees to merge with a larger empire.
Pre-industrial, pre-space civilisations.
More modding. If I could only put a '?' in the character stats instead of reading through the customisation guide to find the correct values, I'd have updated all my Trek mods by now.
Allow us to have peace with the Kaltors!! I'm kind of a sensitive Romulan, I don't like killing bugs. I put them outside. [:D] Let me have the power to do this in-game. Let me study them and learn from them. They need their own research tree and even research bases! An exo-biology research station could be built at a pre-industrial civ world or near a space creature 'nest'. This could give a boost to diplomacy with instectoids, weapons research, even energy research. Much better than blasting them out of the stars!
Level 1 tech would allow your ships to fly with the sand slugs, level 2 the space slugs, lvl 3 ardilus', lvl 4 kaltors, lvl 5 or 6, the silvermist.
Just some thoughts, most of which have been mentioned before.

Seems to me pirates and boarding parties go hand-in-hand. What's the fun of piracy if you can't capture ships?!
And yeah, Erik has mentioned that the expansion will have a lot of varied things, so I expect whatever pirate-related enhancements there are, they are only part of it.

Boarding Parties... do you not have that with Data hitting your cargo bay and drinking? How many more boarding parties do you need?
This last one caught by eshummel's security cam looks pretty raucaus to me...

Hey TJ....that looks like one of the security stills taken at my Galactic Birthday party last

I think this was taken after Data raided Igard's Warbird of all his Romulan Ale and provided it to
the party {I think that's why he's laughing}.

So judging from the clue that its got something to do with pirates.
We will now be able to play as pirates. I imagine we would start with one ship, build ships and crews, trade commodities, raid trade routes, board and steal ships, enslave some independent aliens and sell them or keep them as labourers or population for your own planet and make a pirate nation? Then there would be treasure planet and the pirate council and war between pirates and the ultimate pirate treasure?
