Its a soft drink/soda. i've meet those that thinks it tastes a bit like Cola. Well, not if u ask me. To me is was just awfull and i live on soft drinks.

No, that happened last turn in our game.

Must have hit the Root Beer storage, all that carbonation probably would make quite an explosion, I don't think it would burn, but it sure would make a sticky mess!

Seems CR needs a root beer float now...

The closest flavor comparison is anise. How good root beer is depends heavily on the brand; some (like IBC) are great, some (most cheap or house brands) are awful.

Here in the Northeast US - Its generally Stewarts Root Beer Stand or Weber's Drive-in... imagine starting with an ice cold frosted mug, a frothy head like a good Guinness, body full of tart sweetness... (accompanied by a freshly grilled double cheesburger or a Texas Tommy with crispy french fries) Now thats a good summertime evening!

You can get IBC bottles if you look carefully, it's not stocked on store shelves. Generally Pepsi or Coke's bottled (yeech!) Root Beer... Although Pennsylvania Dutch Root Beer (in returnable bottles still!) makes an appearance in the summertime - thats good too

Walking around Kansas City on a warm Sunday (boy do they lock up on a Sunday)

From Downtown we did Union Station & what is now the WW1 memorial (and politely told the Guard about Australias WW1 efforts [:D])then across to "Hallmark Plaza"???

Great Sub/Bread roll thingy and a bottle of something Orangy. (Great descriptions!)

The drink was at least 125% sugar and even though we continued walking down to our Motel at Country Club got there with almost half of the bottle left.

Luckily we dont get Root Beer here except in specialty shops, our poison would be Sarsparilla.

Worst memory of my US visit.

Walking around Kansas City on a warm Sunday (boy do they lock up on a Sunday)

From Downtown we did Union Station & what is now the WW1 memorial (and politely told the Guard about Australias WW1 efforts [:D])then across to "Hallmark Plaza"???

Hallmark is a greeting card company. I think it's HQed in KC.

Great Sub/Bread roll thingy and a bottle of something Orangy. (Great descriptions!)

If it was orange it wasn't root beer. That's almost black.

My worst memory of my trip to Oz was the first day, jet-lagged, ordering a steak sandwich at a mom & pop lunch/diner kind of place. They asked me if I wanted "salad" on it. Thinking lettuce and tomato I said yes.

I got cold, wet, sliced beets. And wet, purple bread. At least the kanga . . . steak was good. [;)]

You think you got a roo steak burger, very rare.
It would also be rare not to get lettuce, tomato as standard and onion, cheese, pineapple & egg as extras.
Nothing wrong with Beetroot on a burger, its a major part of Eastern Europes favourite soup and a salad favourite here..

They may well be the biggest company in town, but since they're privately held there aren't many means for comparison. The company is a client of one of my former employers, and I can say that the entire accounting department, at least, is staffed with wonderful, friendly people!

This was in 1985 in Cairns, if regional preferences make a diff. In Queensland over nine days I saw no cheese, no pineapple, and no eggs. I saw beets everywhere. A landslide of beets. I still have dreams . . .[:'(]

They recruited heavily at Duke when I was there and the prior grads who went reported the company was excellent to work for if you could stand KC.
