Ok if the changes are small no worries and given the fact that I don't keep a record of the factory growth I have no way of knowing anyway.

I use Win 7 64-bit with UAC off. The English hotfix works for me with no trouble. (The game .exe number on the main menu matches the hotfix number, so I know it's working.)

I have tried it on the 6 different computers in my home and it works on none of them.

Can this be moved into .22 and reposted (public) because this hot fix has issues to say the least.

I have never had problems down loading a hot or normal beta/public file.

Did you put .22 on all 6 of those computers first? You can't install .23 without .22 first or it won't work.

I have Win8 and have tried all of the above (run as administrator, run ggwite.exe as administrator first, etc.) and am still having problems.

Please try copying the WitE folder to another location NOT in UAC-protected locations, just copy it to c:\ or d:\ . If it works there, alter the settings for ggwite.exe to have it always start with admin rights. This should be the only file to require these rights.

The "installed version" is derived from a registry setting made by the patch installer, in the main menu you should see installed version as .22b and .exe version as .23

I always install outside "Program Files" and this spares me a lot of trouble. Since Windows 7 MS made "Program Files" directory writable only by a special "installer user".

UAC protection was introduced with Vista.

UAC is one part, TrustedInstaller is another.

Matrix was not able to say whether they would be able to get the .23 version into an installer before they go on their holiday break (Friday). Even if they do, there may very well be another public beta version before they return after their 2 week shut down, and that would also have to be a hotfix. If you want to use the public betas, it would be worth trying to get around the security issues if you can. I fully appreciate this may be impossible, I'm just trying to lay out the situation as it exists.

Thanks Joel. I have the programs installed out of the UAC zone all of the time anyways - in the C:\MatrixGames\Gary Grisby's War in the East\ folder. No such luck installing - but I have a new trick to try and will post it if it works.

Have you copied the HotFix EXE to WitE game folder?

If yes then you only need to right-mouse-click on it (i.e. the new HotFix EXE) in "Windows Explorer" and select option "Run as Administrator" - that's all!
