Having anti virus on computer and all programs and System updated is basic knowledge about computers. It is not different from using condoms.

It is, but we won't explain it here[8D]

Europol inform that they manage to capture most of people that create and where using that virus in cheat people.

They inform that most of them where captured in Spain(last week) and boss of organization was captured in United Arab Emirates(in December)

They where citizens of Russia, Ukraine and Georgia. They probably manage to get few millions of Euro as ransom for unblocking computers and when they still money after people give them credit card numbers.

In total there where 48 versions of that virus.

This is the second reason why I usually have all of my important docs on a thumb drive. Granted, thumb drives can get infected, but most malware ignores them.

Don't count on it!!

I've had personal experience with an infected thumb drive that flagged whenever inserted into a second machine running a good anti-virus. I could reinfect the thumb drive at will by simply re-inserting it back into the first (infected) machine.

The first machine came from a software engineer who should have known better... [:-]

I bought a 3D printer. Now I print my own custom size condoms. And since I provide my own quality control I don't have to worry about breakage or viruses. I use a vacuum sealer for packaging.

I can make a custom sized condom for your keyboard - just send me the dimensions...[;)]

I got hit with this a few months ago.  Did a search for it on the wife's iPad.  From what I've read, even if you paid the ransom, it wouldn't go away.

I wound up booting in safe mode and doing a cleanse with the antivirus software.  Not sure how it got through to begin with. (Norton)

Ed-

Norton is attention-whoring junk. Get rid of it.

Get McAfee. Yes, the founder is a crackpot, but the software is very good with excellent support, and it operates inconspicuously. It only ever shows itself if there's an actual issue, or if you actually open it.

I use Trend Micro.

I use ESET, and Spybot.

A webcam is a PC camcorder, usually attached to the PC either via a USD, or direct connect.

If you get this just boot from the last safe save point, usually from the last time you updated your system. Then run your virus & spybot software.

Always keep Pop Ups turned off. It's also a smart practice to disable cookies. Makes it a pain getting to your favorite sites, but it does help protect your machine.

Never, ever, give out your CC or any other information unless you are the one who navigated to the site to begin with.
