Just to avoid any confusion:

JeffK was asking about having a non-leader experienced pilot in the squadron and its effects on pilot training of rookies. I expressed that I haven't seen (or heard of) any documented benefit of this approach.

Other posters have talked about the benefit of having unit commanders / leaders with good stats. I think there has been sufficient evidence to show that this is beneficial.

Hope this clarifies this sometimes confusing topic. One must be very precise in their terms.

Does placing veteran pilots increase the skill level of new pilots when they come into the game?

No.

Each nationality has an experience range. New pilots in from completing their 12 month training course will not come in above the upper limit. Having that nations veteran pilots in TRACOM will help reduce the odds the newbies will graduate in the lower band of the range.
