I mined the hell out of Port Moresby a few months ago, but me and my opponent take weekly breaks - life and other things. I usually keep a notepad of all the stuff I do, except I forgot to write down "Mined Port M"..

So my lovely tankers were following my CVs, yesterday I started my game up - fresh coffee in hand, ready to play - I moved my CV's to Darwin with tankers in 6 hex TOW, I had them stop off at Shortlands and Moresby for some quick fuel..

BOOM.
BOOM..
BOOM...
BOOM....

Three tankers and one CV's got hit. Lexington of course gets 50% flood damage, the three tankers were part of my FAST tanker group, since the KB caught my slow fleet im literally down to 4 tankers total now.

I wish Allies had the option to refit more ships IF needed (even if it takes a few months its worth it) for example a Tanker to AO.

The man in Moose's mermaid photo is William Powell.  He played "Doc" in Mr. Roberts.  At first I thought the mermaid was Priscilla Lane, but Moose says its Ann Blythe.

Man, the stars of the '30s to '50s were something!  They probably had nearly as many warts as today's stars have, but media discretion was a different game in those days, so we didn't hear about them.  Suits me.  My obscure (today, at least) starlett of the day is Margarett Lockwood.  [X(]

As for mining, as we all know Allied shipping running afoul of Allied mines happened pretty often.  On one occasion a big convoy returning from Murmansk was led into a field near Iceland.  Many ships damaged and I think a few sunk.  The government had to spin that one pretty hard.

Yep. The movie was "Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid." (1948) They used to show it when I was a kid in the 60s. B&W, but so was our TV.

Mines are cool. The game models them pretty well IMO. Moored mines drift and drag moorings, break loose and float, etc. in real life. And they aren't always laid that carefully, nor are minefields always charted by expert cartographers. They're dangerous beasts to friend and foe.
