Ok Bletch. Thanks for the windows 7 idea! I tried it and yes, I can open my MP files on just one windows 7 computer! I open 2 instances of the game and put in the IP address given in the host dialogue (not the one that automatically comes up on the joining machine).

So then I tried running a scenario like that. You can do it! Not sure of the point, but it looks like it's possible to play myself in MP. Normal dell windows 7 machine. Pretty impressive. Seemed stable (I tried a small scenario), you just use the windows key to tab between instances and sides. Certainly no need that I can see for VM or network sockets or whatever (don't know what they are...). It just does it.

Whoops, you're totally right, phoenix

It's a bit of a pain, but you can do that yourself by editing your posts, copying the markup and pasting them in newly created posts in the new thread.

As soon as you have opened your own thread, I'll do the same with my comments [:)]

Thanks Bletch- G. Have asked Dave to do it in a mail too. Is it not a button click thing for him to do it?

I doubt it very much [:)]

Nice! You just discovered the secret Hotseat feature for Command Ops, phoenix [:)]

Excellent update, Yakstock! [:)] And sorry for polluting the thread, it wasn't very clear where to comment [:(]

So far, I can't other than commend on your initial maneuvering. You basically had phoenix dancing to your tune, using the flexibility and mobility of your force in a very effective way. That's a very nice example of how to handle mobile forces. Well done! [:)]

On the other hand, you're right that the situation is becoming a bit dangerous for you. The business in the center is certainly complicating things. The Grandmesnil thing might or not become a problem, but I think you can easily detach something to cover the road leading to there. Setting up an ambush on the forest north of the town, with a small force, seems to me possible.

On the right flank, you say you made a mistake not going full-on with all of your force, but I'm not so sure about it. I think that keeping those Pionere Coy's you mention in the reserve is going to prove to be a wise option. And the staying power of the US Army and Airborne units there is significant. You're fighting there the finest troops the US had in the ETO, and arguably, better troops than the ones you have at your disposal.

It's going to be an interesting match [:)] Thank you for doing this AAR!

Thanks Bletchley_Geek, I appreciate the comments. What an awesome game this is and making AAR's increases the enjoyment and hopefully increases those looking to play MP. I am really glad Phoenix is writing one up too - can't wait to review after the match and compare our thoughts.

Our session three attached - a short session taking us to the middle of day three.
