I am pretty sure the game would not start i WMP is not enabled.

The easiest way to check is to try run it. It is at the root level of the start menu programs list (on my win7).

Hotfix fixed it!!! Thanks a lot guys! [:D]

Still, the music is not working, I noticed in another thread that you have to check so that WMP is "enabled" - how/where do I go to check if this is done? Because I think this may very well be my problem, other than that I could only guess it's my audio drivers...
You can enable Windows Media Player in Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features On or Off > Media Features > Windows Media Player. Just make sure the checkbox is ticked.

If you're still not hearing music in DW, this may be due to a bug in WMP version 10 on Windows XP. The Microsoft link that explains the bug is no longer available, but basically music would only play once and then never again... [X(]

Apparently WMP 11 does not have this problem. So if you currently have WMP 10 installed, try upgrading to WMP 11: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-media-player-details.aspx

Thanks
