No problem - just thought I'd ask.

One day when I'm not playing the game (whenever that is) I'll find it.:)

If we break the "Magic" code, do we gain access to them? :)

Sonny, the problem is that many of the .wav files sound alike.

I had to change 12 "torpedo" sounds before I found the right one I needed for the "submarine attacks" battle screen.

The one good thing is, the sounds are usually grouped in a sequence, such that all the nature sounds are together, all the music sounds are together, etc. . .

Was this from movie "Ben Hur" before Romans met the pirate fleet?

During the Gulf War in 91 we had one real GQ on board the Theodore Roosevelt. I was in my rack and heard them launch the alert 30, 15, and then the ready 5 aircraft. Apparently the Iraq AF had decided to send a couple of planes into the gulf. When the GQ alarm sounded, I don't believe I had ever seen us set Condition Zebra as fast.

The only other time we had a REAL problem was when they called away a Class Bravo fire in the aft diesel room. Seeing as how my berthing was directly ABOVE the diesel room, I remember 200 guys evacuating in about 15 seconds.

I really like this new wave file. Now if there was a way to have a Japanese version for when I play that side. Of course I probably won't have a clue to what it says but it would be cool none the less:)

Ok, as a civilian, I'm curious. If I understand the terminology right, aren't the Ready 5 aircraft those held for immediate use (ready for launch in 5 minutes)? Why wouldn't they launch FIRST, before the others on lower aleart status (Alert 30 and Alert 15, I assume).

Dumb question, but I'm curious. . . .

My problem is that the same sound is used for the combat replay ( ) and when you load the file for your turn when you are the Allies(:( ).

Yep, I know about the single wave file, might be a good thing to put on the wishlist for WitP:)

Does anyone know which wave file is the background? I picked up the Victory at Sea tape and want to put it as my background..hehe.

NEW SOUND SETTING

Here's a suggestion for those of you who want to get the most out of your sound system.

The following settings are for SoundBlaster Live!

Go to "Settings" - "Control Panel" - click on "Audio HQ" - select "Environmental Audio" - then at the top of this panel, under "Environment", you'll see a pull down menu. Select "Dream Scape" from this menu. Then close all panels.

If you don't have a "Dream Scape" setting in the pull down menu, then select a setting that includes some "echo" and "reverb". You can see these settings in the open window on the same "Environmental Audio" panel as the pull down menu.

These new sound settings will add more echo and reverb to your sounds, making all of the combat, aircraft, music sounds, etc richer in detail. Hopefully, these settings will enhance your enjoyment of the game.

I always use this "Dream Scape" setting when playing a computer game.

Cheers!

Seeing as how I was a nuke trapped below decks most of the time, the way I understood that it worked is thus...

The ready 5 were 2 aircraft on the flight deck with pilots sitting in them and hooked up to the little jobbers that cranked thier engines over. (I think the 14s required help to start, the 18s didn't).

When they call out launch the ready (or alert, I forget which it is) 30s, they are saying that there may be a threat, lets start getting the aircraft into position for launch. I seem to recall hearing that the alert 30s had a refueling set of a-6s in that group.

So the way I think it went down was Launch alert 30s - meaning no one thought there was much of an immeadiate threat at that time. Then the alert 15s, which meant that someone decided that since the Iraqis actually had planes in the air and it could pose a threat to us, and then the OMG they didn't get shot down immeadiately and were making a bee line for the Gulf waters. Realize that you could pretty much walk across the gulf at that time on the decks of all the navy ships out there.

I think they were finally shot down long before they got to us...but it certainly got the adrenaline flowing that night.

It would be great if Matrix would incorporate these improved sounds into the 2.0 version of UV. :)

What do you say, Matrix?

I love those new torpedo sounds. To bad they don't change the one we ear when we start the game.

They all sound alike to me and I don't like the sonar sound with them. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I was going to change the intro sounds, but I think they're hard-coded to play.

Cheers!
