Our troops destroy another T-44 Tank and kill (15) Red army troops .
Our 50AA destroy 2 enemy 12mm machine guns in the north.
The enemy shells falling on our troops, 2 troops were killed.

Fighting continues in the North, with my courageous troops slowly pushing back the Ranger hordes (I suspect at least two companies worth are present - not kidding!).

How did I lose that T-44?

Well, I overran a Ranger squad last turn with some Guard infantry, but couldn´t spot it though one inf squad was in the same hex and an engineer squad, a Sniper and the T-44 were in the adjacent hex. Suspecting its position, the Guards squad in the same hex bombarded the hex thrice, causing two casualities but neither revealing nor spotting the **** Rangers. Of course, rokondo rallies them next turn, cooly puts a 99% to hit Bazooka through the tank, remains unspotted, fires at the Guards in the same hex, killing two but not retreating them, gets spotted, the sniper fires and misses ... and the engineer squad flames both my own Guards and the **** Rangers. Grrr...

Glorious day for US

In the north we send our Tanks might destroying 4 enemy T-44 Tanks
Many losses both sides more then 4 squads the enemy destroy us.
But we kill him another 12mm and 3 Bazooka teams and more few troops.
The Red army troops retreat with no tanks defenses around them :D

In the Center our troops advance and saw few enemy squads waiting near his home base (Vhex’s) – They will be destroy

General Rokondo give promotion to the tank commander who destroy 2 enemy tanks.

Counterstrike!

That medal will have to be awarded posthumous , rokondo... that tank and its crew are history!:p

After a daring attack against well-prepared defences and overlapping fields of fire (**** I wish I could pull tricks like that - just move up with no arty prep, miraculously get missed by the opfire and then nail those T-44s with no sweat), two american M26 Pershings find that they may have moved a ridge to far  and are smashed by my second line of defence: Two ISU-122s!

Around the central VHs (those in the gap on the central hill), a fierce firefight erupts between soviet stormtroopers with SMGs and Rangers. The Yankees are driven back, taking heavy casualities in the process, and we now claim 4 out of 5 VHs.

In the northern part of the town, streetfighting continues, with my heroic troops making slow gains.

Your move, General Rokondo!

Day of battle

In the North side the enemy lost 3 more T-44 Tanks.
The Red army lost few troops (10) but they kill us many (more then 30).

In the Center taking back the Vhex's and making the enemy retreat with heavy casualties.

In the south start Heavy battle near the Red army Vhex's killing few enemy troops.

Payback time!

That "retreat with heavy casualities" in the center was of course a ploy to draw you into a trap, rokondo!

Whatever, my counterattacking SMG squads torch a Pershing with a Molotov, while a liberated Panzerfaust ends anothers advance. A third resists repeated attacks, and when the enemy 155´s start dropping shells its position begins to look less hopeless than before.

In the north, we are busily killing Rangers and Bazookas, and another M26 is smashed on scrap metal ridge. Soviet troops are cheap, and I hope to obtain favorable results here despite all those troopers lost. Urrah Red Soldiers! For Stalin! For the Motherland! Strike down the capitalist oppressors!;)

This day our marines send their might against to poor Russian troops.
There general send them to die.
Both sides lose troops but this day our troops take the upper hand.
Freedom for the people - we will free this land from the Red oppression.

A cleverly concealed Bazooka rockets a Pershing that thought itself unseen behind the smoke it popped, heavily damaging it. You just got yourself a bunker in the north, rokondo!

A halftrack carrying a 40mm AA gun finds that 100mm AP shells suffice to blow right through it and then some...

All over the field, soviet and american troops are locked in close range fighting, with neither side gaining an upper hand. The southern sector is subject to an all-out assault aimed at my rear objective, but my engineers, 12,7mm DShks and Bazookas hinder the enemy a lot...

Our picture of what the Americans are fielding here is growing more and more complete: We suspect the presence of a full company of M26 Pershings, with one platoon operating in the north, central and southern sector respectively. The northern platoon has suffered three total write-offs and one tannk unfit for further action, the central troop has lost three of its number while the forces to the south have yet to be committed - and destroyed!

Enemy infantry consists of the already mentioned two companies worth of Rangers, maybe more, assisted by numerous M9 Bazooka teams. Supporting them are several Quad .50 AAMGs and 40mm AAA, which have been riding HTs. Four of those HTs are fast aflame, and one of the Quads has very little crew remaining:p

On the artillery side, the number of shells falling indicates the presence of a full Btn of 155mm howitzers. We´ll see what good this will do them...

The Mustangs have thankfully disappeared. Good riddance, and I hope some Migs put a great many holes in you!

In the north both sides loose many troops , I have 1 tank paralyze from enemy attacks.

In the Center heavy fighting and many dead both sides more then 3 squads we lost and the enemy.

In the south looses to me after saw that the enemy put mines every where.
My tanks are near the enemy Vhex's destroying him 1 tank and after with my excitement I send another tank to the hill and the enemy 100MM cannon destroy him.

Both sides loose (Draw turn)

Through the score of mines mines, assaulting engineers with flamethrowers and to-good-to-miss opfire the Pershings advance, scattering soviet troops to their left and right. Man, I´d sure wish one of my tanks would hit something with opfire even once. I swear, this hasn´t happened in this game, despite at least a dozen such situations. Of course, my T-44s and ISU-122s all get nailed afterwards...

Otherwise, we exact a heavy toll on the Rangers fighting near the centre VHs, scattering three squads. With grim determination, we will fight to the last man if necessary!

Mines grrrr....

I hate mines...
The red army place them every where using Engineers (I lost few troops)
I just need to be careful where I go.

In the north the red army retreat with his troops after getting high casualties.
Few troops was lost to US army.

In the Center Few enemy troops was killed.
Saw on far hill enemy 100mm cannon (put smoke around him)

In the south Enemy Engineers squad badly heart.
Destroy enemy truck.

Conquer Red army Vhex's in his home land killing 12mm gun and more few troops.
The only place that left is in the north city (Still in Red hands)

Heavy fighting

All along the front, attacks and counterattacks result in vicious firefights. The last Pershing of the enemy´s northern platoon is destroyed in an aggravated assault by engineers and SMG stormtroopers. The central VHs see the demise of yet another Ranger squad, while its mate suffers several casualties from our 120mm mortars. The american adcance M26 in the south comes under sustained fire from two ISU-122s, while its accompanying Rangers lose their fight against my Guards infantry.

rokondo has made some ground, but his losses are mounting. I suspect that there aren´t too many Rangers left...

The red army is defeted

This is glory day to US our troops advance every where crushing the remains of the great red army.

I do not know from where you come to the conclusion that I have few troops :D :D :D
I have many ...many... more

In the north side the enemy lose 1 Vhex's and get heavy casualties more then 30 red troops dead.

In the center few more red troops are history.

In the south lost bazooka squad after stepping on mines

Back in the red homeland, The enemy fire from his tanks on my tanks .
He lose one more tank :)

General “Scharf “ can say good by to his troops - he been defeated
On his homeland they heard the bad news and court marshal will hang him for his bad decisions.

Not so fast...

Well, the soviet bear might be wounded and hurting, but he is also angry and not without opportunities for retaliation. Two more M26 Pershings join the scrap heap, one taken apart by a mighty 100mm ATG at close range, the other had its crew bail out after my glorious Guards assaulted it. Of course, the cowards were the sped along with small arm fire and hand grenades...

In the north, SMGs and a charging GAZ truck disperse another Ranger squad, while two more lose their fight near the central VHs.

Bazookas and crewmen are running for the hills in the south, and not all make it.

Defeat?

You have to try harder to achieve that!

All Vhex's in US hands

The Red army try...and try... to break my positions but he can not .
The Red troops are tiered and hungry & thirsty (They do not have power to fire back).
They fight for there life’s not for mother Russia.

In the north side all the Vhex's conquer and killing more few red troops that already retreat.
I lost 1 Bazooka team.

In the Center red squad is eliminated by P26 tank.

Is Russia homeland destroying 82mm mortar and killing more few troops.

US 155mm shells hit enemy troops killing more 2.

The fighting continues. Near my rear VHs, I for once win a firefight with some Rangers without having to attack with three squads and lose half a dozen men in the process. The enemy is driven back, unassisted by a stricken M26.

Near the center VHs, a scouting GAZ truck reveals that the local Rangers are all dead or have fled, and that the enemy has resorted to ATGs and AAA to guard the spot. At full speed, the truck takes most of them before getting hit:p

The little Bazooka team name "Jony Rock"

The Bazooka team in the far hill make successful attack on 100mm cannon and destroy it :)

In the north continue to advance killing more few troops, US loose 1 bazooka team.

In the center taking back the captured Vhex's after bringing reinforcement to the place.
Killing sniper who was hidden near by.
Another enemy sniper destroy me 50AA gun.

In the enemy homeland - The Russians try heavy attack to take back the place, but they failed making them retreat losing many troops.
Destroying the Truck who bring them.

A truckload of Guards speeds up to that ´Zooka, the yanks raise their carbines, destroy the truck , but the Guards are to much for them. More dead heroes...

In the north, we counterattack some Rangers with our engineers. A flamethrower can do ugly things to infantry. "Can" is the catchphrase here. One casuality is substandard, but I´ve had it before here. Whenever it counts, my troops fail me, opfire goes wild, whatever...

Ah well, I drive up some more infantry, and chase the Rangers a little further. My truck is in hot pursuit, the co-driver firing his little pistol at the fleeing yanks, killing two of them:p :p

Otherwise, all is calm.

Enemy counter attack failed

The Red army try to send reinforcements to the north all of them been destroy :p
including 3 trucks and many troops.

In the center enemy bazooka team destroy and kill red crew man.

In the enemy home base, killing 2 bazooka teams and hard another.
killing few more troops dare to shoot.

Time for the red army to surrender or death will come to you all

Waving the white flag...

Allright. I´m done.

I have one ISU-122s and maybe one and a half platoon of infantry, one 100mm ATG, four 57mm ATGs, some trucks and my mortars left. That truck movement in the north was no counterattack, but an attempt to evacuate the defenceless 57mm ATGs which were threatened to be overrun by Rangers. My losses are enormous: A full company of T-44 medium tanks, three out of four ISU-122s, a full company of SMG infantry (wiped out to the last man), two out of three platoons from a Guards infantry company destroyed, the third platoon at 50% of its original strength, an AT company of nine M1 Bazooka teams all dead, an engineer company reduced to a single squad, four Il-2m3 Shturmoviks shot down, and some more trucks, snipers and recons also lost.

Quite a list. How could this happen?

My strategy was relatively simple: Cover the center with 100mm ATGs and 12,7mm HMGs, mine the south to the point where it proof against attack, grab the northern VHs and fight in the city from north to south, relying on the company of SMG infantry to clear the way. Hold ISU-122s in reserve somewhere behing the lines but able to move into a good firing position to destroy any Pershings that exposed themselves. Four things prevented this plan from succeeding:

First, I lost way to many T-44s in close combat in the north. While some of them where lost to the fortunes of war and unlucky placements, like the company command tank that became the first tank casuality of this battle when a Mustang fighter spotted it in the midst of a wood, others were killed through plain bad luck. I had a Pershing move up to a dug-in T-44 in the north, miss the 89% to hit opfire at range one and then got destroyed by the Bazookas riding it. It´s platoonmate, also dug-in, missed a Pershing at a range of three hexes and got shot by a very low to hit shot in return. This smashed my lines in the far north and lost me a platoon of Guards infantry and three Bazookas in quick succession. Though I was able to even the score somewhat with the ISU-122s, I sure would have preferred to have retained my T-44s.

What else? Two of my three 160mm superheavy mortars had malfunctions, both very early in the game. A 120mm heavy mortar also failed, as did two 82mm mortars. That makes five out of fifteen mortars, with a distinct tendency of the heavier and more expensive ones to cease functioning.

Most annoying were my SMG infantry squads. I have used them to good effect in the past, but they performed abyssmal in this battle. They were regularly outgunned by the Rangers, even at point blank range. While the Garand may be one of the best rifles (I would have written the best, but then thought of the StG-44) and the Rangers are elite, the latter is true of the SMG infantry while the PPsh is a fearsome weapon indeed. Or should be: I consistently had rather low to-hit % at around 25% at range 1 and less than 10% at range 2. The Guards with their bolt-action Mosin rifles are more effective streetfighters!

This led me to use the SMGs as cannonfodder and do the mopping-up with Guards. Well, I should have bought conscripts instead.

In the south, I had set up a pretty decent screen of mines that did me no good at all. I had six squads of engineers lay mines there undisturbed for at least twelve turns before the defences where tested, and rokondo breached it in the first attempt, losing a total of three men to the mines, and no tanks...

Whatever. Congratulations, rokondo! Yet another battle won! I must admit that the continous pressure exerted prevented me from putting up a more spirited defence. A more cautious advance would have cost you dearly, but you were allways a step ahead, and I was reacting. Congratulations, once more!
