Actually I agree that creating a wiki for MWiF would be a great idea. It could include the game rules (easy to search and follow links) and discussions about the rule in the same web page where the rule is.

Imagine that you have a doubt about, let's say, rule 15.2.3. You could simply look at the rule in the wiki, and read or post in the discussion of the rule instead of scanning through thousand of threads, where discussions are mixed with fun posts, AAR, etc.

Those who say it can't be accomplished... come on guys, we have Wikipedia right? This ain't going to be bigger!

Buy why? All the rules are are imbeded in the game with their explaination. This is NOT a normal computer game in any sense of the word. So anytime you have a question, you can use the in-game tools to get an answer.

Of course if someone really thinks a Wiki is needed, someone will make it (not me [:)]). I would suggest that you wait for the release before asking for something that I personally think is not needed given the rules content already embedded into the game directly.

I forgot about the rules in-game.

On the other side I was thinking about the discussion on the rules. There's a Group in Yahoo! with thousands of posts about people discussing about the interpretation of the Rules and how they work... but then I've just thought... you don't have to argue about the interpretation of the rules as the computer does that for you... [:D][:D][:D]

[&o][&o][&o]

Then the need is not that big, true. Still could be interesting, but as you say. somebody who really needs it, should start it. (I don't know why the board players haven't started it already...).

Still, I think a FAQ is absolutely necessary as there are many people asking again and again:

- How much does it cost
- When the AI will be and if will be free or not
- when Netplay for 6 players
- PBEM
- and so...

Right, but you still need their advice to know why you cannot do what you think you could... [:D]

Isn't that is what this forum is for? [:D]

True, but although in this forum many questions on rules of WIF and MWIF alterations have been answered, I guess the mail list, whose existence is dedicated to solving WIF rules questions is more adequated and whereas here you have ocassional threads on rules, all the threads of the mail list are on that.

Plus, many of the questions are on weird situations only after years in a rules mail list with hundreds (at least) of followers and thousands of games can happen.

Some of them have had to be brought to Harry for an interpretations, and some of them have merited changes or/and exceptions in rules, new clarifications or text modification on rules, in order to explain better.

Well since there is already a huge body of knowledge about the board game on various sites, I see even less need for something specific for the computer version. Since it is an almost EXACT copy of the board game (just a few minior differences).

But like I said if someone thinks there is a need, someone will create it. But I predict that it will lie fallow in a short amount of time [:(]

There was a compilation of all the questions asked of and answered by Harry Rowland several years ago. MWIF encodes all his decisions at that time; there were ~400. In the Rules as Coded manual, those corrections and clarifications are included and noted as such.

If there is one thing this kind of discussion forum (or email discussion lists, for that matter) does not handle well, it is having the information contained therein being easily accessible without having to dig through piles of archives (made all the worse if you are not particularly skilled at web or forum searches).

A wiki-style page could have FAQs, strategy tips/tricks, etc., organized and presented in an easily accessible, easy-to-find, and easy-to-read format (so, say, more in line with the MWiF Player's Manuals than the WiF:FE rulebooks or the plaintext emails).
