Ok, lunchtime, I came back home, uninstalled Comodo Antivirus and it seems to be installing properly, so I think we can conclude that the a/v was the problem.

Before, I had made some trials killing every progam that looked like a Comodo program or related, it seems it wasn't enough, though.

Thx for your help and a Boo! for Comodo. True, the antivirus is free, but I take sth free when it's supposed to help, not create problems.

Edit: Finally, after like 15 trials I got the "Instalation Complete" message. [:D]

We're installing the free trial of Comodo here today as well to see if we can duplicate the issue, but very glad to hear that uninstalling it solved the problem so that we can know for certain that it was causing the interference.

For what it is worth, I did NOT see this warning.

Windows 7 ...very new computer.
