Hey Erik, I seem to remember you (or someone else at the office) saying you guys weren't able to set the whole thing up. It was kinda nice to brag to my wife, that I was probably the first person in the world to set up the whole map. For some reason she was not as impressed as I thought she ought to be [:'(]

Well, we are impressed! I do think you have that honour as the first customer.

It was a real pretty sight. But I had pick them up, cause I couldn't take the chance that the rain might, slip under the garage door and ruin them. Otherwise I'd be looking at them right now!

LOL! no no no, I don't have the counters. I just love maps, and I'm going to use them as a base for my own wargame project.

When my package came my wife asked who it was for. She was hoping it was something Christmacy for her. As I took the wrapping off she saw the books and saw it was Matrix World in Flames. She said, "OMG, don't you already have enough WIF stuff?" As I took the maps out I replied, "Look! New wall paper!". I should have had a camera because of the look on her face.
Flowers will be sent today.

Sure, I'll send you some flowers too. What hospital are you in? [:D]

I really wanted to get the maps, but when I told my wife that we would have to move the dining room table into another room so i could use them, her response cannot be repeated here [:(]

Need Tables!

shaddock,
Thanks for showing us just how large the physical map is, way too large to actually play on. What you really need are enough tables to lay the map out on and then plastic sheets to hold the map in place instead of sticks. Then you could play. Now all you have to do is convince the wife you need to extend the garage a few feet. [:D]

Hey Omnius I showed her all the comments here and she was saying "well you could move the wall mounted tv, and stand, out of the way and put the maps on the wall in the living room". I took that with a sack full of grains of salt.

I don't believe the map is ever playable on a table, not unless you split it up. It's 9+ feet wide (high). There's an upper limit to a human's reach. I've always pegged that at a maximum map width of 7 feet. I look at this map as part of a vertical setup, if you can find a 10 foot high ceiling.

I measured the printed map yesterday. It is 102 inches vertically. There is a 1 inch margin at the top which could be cut off or folded under. But that stills 101 inches, 5 inches too much for an 8 foot ceiling.[:(] Trimming the bottom 5 inches wouldn't be too bad, since there is just one port in far south South America which would be eliminated.

I haven't measured the true width, but I am sure there is some reduction from the listed 21 foot width due to hex column overlap.
