Now we send in three tank brigades to eleminate the artillery. We fall short of our goal to destroy the unit. It was covered by a strong Nebelwerfer that inflicts heavy losses to our units. If the Germans have enough resources they might rebuild this one. This is not good.

In the south no unit dares to attack the 5. Guards! The Germans have difficulties bringing their artillery into action against them. It will take them quite some time to defeat those brave men.

In the center first German air strikes on the city take place. We move as many AA units as possible into the area to make them pay dearly.

From the east reinforcements arrive.

The statistics are misleading as it seems the Soviets have suffered horrible losses. But most of those units were bunkers which in turn often damaged the advancing Germans. The only the artillery hurts a bit, but it was part of the outer defense system which fell completly around Istra in this round.

Turn 4 - The German assault gains momentum

The situation at the beginning of the Soviet turn:

My ambush in the north ends in desaster. The Germans countered with heavy airstrikes and artillery destroying one tank brigade and reducing the other two to shadows.

In the center the Germans broke through the inner defense ring.

The 5. Guards in the south have sustained heavy losses and run out of ammo. With new supplies the unit also receives a personal letter from Stalin in which he praises the spirit of the unit!

The Germans take the road east towards Dimitrov and then south to avoid the defenses at the Klin area. Aircraft support the advance of the single Panzerdivision.

After unsuccessful attacks against the recon unit in the center, we form a new artillery unit to strengthen the defenses once more.

A massive attack by our fighters forces German aircraft to land as they were understrength and ran out of ammo.

The isolated StuKas take their toll as the Red Eagles descend on them out of the sun.

Turn 5 : The situation is getting a bit more desperate, but see for yourself:

The Panzerdivision is now being supported by infantry units in the north. At the same time one of our artillery posts was badly damaged by bombers.

There is a huge force of units marching towards the center of Moscow - mainly in the southern area. Quite some units were reinforced and have a considerable strength.

The 5. Guards Rifle Division has been defeated. We will do everything to make sure their sacrifice was not in vain.

Except for delivering ammuntion and reinforcing some units there is little that can be done at the moment. Our airforce is still strong and supplied so we try to change the odds a bit to our favour in the northern sector with airstrikes and air battles.
First we will accept the present of the enemy and hunt down the bomber unit with our fighters.

Then we will wear down the Panzerdivision once more. Its still very dangerous though.

Our last move is an airstrike against one of the infantry units in the north. It takes heavy losses.
