Looks like this very close in. very clear! Note the search area has - for some reason - turned greenish (though not as green as this - the gif conversion emphasises it) . I don't mind that.

The messages are also very clear. be fantastic, in fact, to have this as an option you could change in game, so that when you zoomed in close, to see cluttered action or coastlines you had available a really simple, clear view, but it would be nice to have the land at the click of a switch, for when you didn't need to have the clutter. So great you've added a request to that effect, Mike. thanks.

I agree, I always like the OJ-663 type display in Harpoon 3. Feels more authentic and it certainly declutters everything. Really, I like both though. The Relief layer is incredibly useful for strike ingress planning, since the game does a fine job of modeling radar and its interaction with ground features (which the relief layer shows quite well 95% of the time).
So rewarding to finally have a "game" where such things actually matter. Where proper planning actually gets rewarded and you can see it happening.
Honest to God, any time I find myself playing something else, I keep thinking "Why am I not playing Command right now?" I think I've got an addiction here...

I like this thread: I use this .jpg for a water-blue (not black) planet.
...(as my ships are usually located in waters rather than on land!)

Blue planet looks like this.
(But would be nice to tone down the window borders & interface to something more in theme with dark blue)

Much improved, Pandor! Thanks.
For myself I'd like all the land shaded some light colour. Any idea how to do that?

I would appreciate an option to toggle between Command-standard and Harpoon - but in general I am definitely in love with the Relief look.

I really like it as is, but it would be Nice to toggle it to an AEGIS display (blue water and sand/beige land colour) when it gets too much cluttered.
And a happy New year to you all [:)]

Yeah this helps with the "color perception challenged" as well. I'd rather work from a 2 color screen (one color for land, the other for water) and use the relief map for planning.

Me too. I like having the option to use both. But for the Harpoon style would prefer the black water as it is much easier on the eyes.

Definitely would also love to see an AEGIS type display ingame. When things get intense, all the declutter options available above would be awesome.

Once the template (jpg, whatever) for the land masses is built, it would be a simple matter to swap out various color combinations... included or self modded. I guess that makes this a "whatever looks/feels best for you" type thing.

And how does the template get built? Does somebody have to actually trace the line of the land, the entire world's surface?

Those boundaries are there but do not map 1:1 with elevation settings, so don't count on water on one side of the line and sea on the other.

I mentioned a few times how blurred the coastlines are close up - the Falklands, for example - well now it looks beautifully clear - like this:
Personally, I much prefer that.
Now, if I could just turn the sea a nice shade of blue? You don't know how to do that, Baloogan, no?

Yeah the data is there in the GIS folder, and it looks like it can be exported to a graphics file with the right software (DIVA-GIS or other freeware). From there someone who knows what they're doing can probably create a layer and color it with Photoshop or something similar. That's what I meant by a "template" Once that's done (if it's possible at all) that file can be recolored to taste.
My son is pretty good with this stuff but he's away on business for a few weeks. I'll ask him when he get's back.
