Union troops advanced from the right of this picture thru the cornfields onto the Confederate positions at the Sunken Road (at bottom left). On September 17, 1862, over 12,000 Union soldiers and over 10,000 Confederate soldiers were killed here and at other nearby locations.

After touring the battlefield Klink treated us to lunch at the Bavarian Inn, an awesome place, you must go if visiting the area.

After lunch we retired to Klink's house where we sat around the fire and had a few schnapps while discussing the finer aspects of TOAW. I didn't know Klink had such a big house.
