Nah, he speaks truth. The Moose never plays Japan, sad to say. In '42, '43 you can afford to take your time a little bit. In '44? You need the ground. Stepping stones closer to the tasty, meaty industry in Japan, which is where you'll win the game. Doesn't matter where the stones are, though.

Our game has tempted me to re-start an AI Japan game just to learn about the dang navy and airplane types. But Skyrim keeps calling, sucking all my non-AE game time away. Oh, the Steam Winter sale got me too. COH2, the Eastern Front, plus the XCOM DLC, which is fantastic.

Steam Winter Sale.. [&o][&o]

Amazing how fast you can develop new behaviors when you get cookies. I was going every eight hours to choose my next hot sale item and get my rewards. I had the phone next to the bed; first thing I checked when I woke up over the holidays. What went up on the 8-hour over night?

Pathetic. [:)]

Well the troops are ashore at Truk and basically intact. (2 marine divisions, 3 tank battalions and some engineers)

6 Damaged BB's (mid teens to 30ish sys damage), about the same number of destroyers, with one DD sunk.
4 LST sunk or will sink shortly. (90+ damage and still on fire), about the same number of LCI sunk as well.
All the APA/AKA came through with only minor damage.

Interestingly there was no autoshock attack by the troops.

I'll have to see how the land combat goes next time I get into the game.

Truk is Medium sized, non-atoll.

Every since you introduced me to this drug, I do the same thing.

Well the ground attack went in, forts 6 of course.

What I have there should do the job, but its going to be a little while to get it done.
Attack, recover attack. Bombing heavily the whole time of course.

Probably should have dropped more engineers, lesson for the future me to apply.

Disruption...Disruption...Disruption

You have to find a way to disrupt and keep his troops disrupted.

4 days of deliberate attacks (with 1-2 days bombardment between them) did the trick. Ground losses were well within the 'acceptable' range.

Now to fix those old slow BB's (mainly minor system damage, so not too bad after all).
