Hey Plodder,

I was wondering what program you used to make your map, if you don't mind sharing that info with us.

Not at all. I use Paint Shop Pro 8. It's old, but it does everything I want to do.

Plodder, are you planing to mod other maps?

Yes,I'm currently working on the Red Storm 1 map. I'm currently working my way through the trees.

Absolutely awesome work Plodder... I love the way the elevations seem jump out of the map!

+1

I'm constantly moving the mouse around to check elevation. I love the way I can glance at this map and "see" the ground.

I haven't bought the game yet but have been seriously considering it as I get familiar with the game engine using the demo. For me, visualising elevation from the default maps has been difficult, which is frustrating given the critical importance of terrain in combat, but these maps make that much simpler. Once I purchase the game I look forward to downloading and using.

The default maps have several features built into them to help with visual elevation determination.

The fields are only at the bottom 2 elevations. You see clear terrain hexes above that at the higher elevations. Each elevation change with trees is shown with the trees leaving the elevation change unobstructed.

I know those don't do the same things that Plodders maps do but those tips may help you.

Good Hunting.
