Laska,

I appreciate the bmp files. However, when I load either of the two mpp files you posted (i.e. ASLbc002a+b) using the "map info" feature of the editor of the game...it shows the bmp file but doesn't load any of the terrain or LOS polygons.

All the terrain features and LOS polygons load fine when I open your scenario hill 253. Do you have any idea why this is?

Thanks

this is a known problem, bmp files are only image files without any terrain info. Also 'mpp' files doesn't contain any data, only 'map' scenario files contains all information.

I also tried to load a mpp change some terrain hexes and save as mpp again but it doesn't work as I expected.

we could ask an editor improvement in this sense.

update: I loaded a stock mpp file 'city map.mpp' and it contains all the hexes with the right values, but I don't know how they make it possible.

Hill 253.3

Just played Hill 253.3 and this is a really fun scenario. I won in 8 turns in intro mode but will go back & play again & again in harder modes. Really like the map on this one as it presents some interesting fire lanes through the hills. Keep them coming and thanks you again[&o]

Loading new .mpps is fixed for the next version, I'm sorry I didn't see they busted, probably in 1.06.

Soon I'll post a link for download it.

Laska,

As soon as 1.08 comes out, I'll start making scenarios with your mpp files. You already put in all the hard work making all the polygons....so I'm not going to reinvent the wheel.
I look forward to you posting your mpp files that have more data than a simple bmp. As you know the editor just isnt working right.

Again thanks for all the work. The maps are the hardest and most time consuming...so for now I leave them up to you.

The mpps are for single-panels only - laska's large maps are best used as just .maps, either with a version with no units on it or strip all his units off if they're already there. Unless he has them all saved as individual panels as well (I might have missed that).

Board 2 was saved as individual panels. But it didn't work. When either panel(mpp file) was loaded to either the Xcompleteblankmap or the Xblankmap no terrain data loaded. I'm sure all his maps can be saved as individual panels...the problem is they don't load any terrain data or LOS polygons load in the editor.

I tried everything...loading his hill253.5 map file..removing all the units...but none of the mpp files from the stock game will load properly. So I can't add panels to the hill map.

Photoshop or something similar.

I think that we must wait for the 1.08 editor release and than create single mpp map files, so it's easier to make new scenarios.
Also could be useful to have a sticky in the 'mods' forum to keep it all together.

The new version of editor still wont load your (ASL map2)mpp files. However I did find a way to use one of the mpp files.
1) I loaded scenario hill 253.5
2) deleted the ASLbc0002b pane (mpp file)
3)saved the scenario as a map file (the map file only has the pane ASLbc0002a in the map #1 slot on the map info window)
4) reloaded it...
5) saved it as a mpp file.

You have 8 bmp files for the first 4 maps of ASL. If you can save them as individual scenarios (map files) each bmp file in the map #1 slot of the map info window of the editor program. Reload each of them individually ..to make sure you didnt' lose data ....then save them as mpp files. Then the community can use all of your maps.

Attached is the ASL002a mpp file and a scenario map file using that mpp file in all 9 pane positions. It works. If you can do the same for the other 7 bmp files we would have all 4 classic squad leader maps to use for scenarios...

Thanks

Excellent job laska,

You almost doubled the usable map panels for the game. A real thing of beauty.
