Good question. I am 52 in August, but I might die of old age before seeing Combined Arms at this rate. :(

What is better in Panzer command than in CMx2 and Achtung Panzer?
Visible data. Foxholes and trenches.

AP has trenches and the new CM too I think. The battle map is not like a miniature table top with some matte background, the operational map is one huge seeamingless map divided in squares, each individual map can have only one operational unit (platoon) at any given time where action takes place on a 3x3 square section, anything inside that area can enter the battle.

What I didn't like about AP was that it only has up to 4x time compressing and sometimes even on that it takes a while to get into action, specially in meetings. Maybe the weird GUI too, although you get used to it. That a HT and pzgrens are one unit, the setting itself. Would have liked more urban fights and better equipment, a better campaign system.

Something is missing from AP, it didn't grab me as much as I would have liked. Maybe it needed more detail per soldier, their names not only the commander of the squad but of all, their individual medals and achievments etc.

I don't know what is mean by "visible data"? that the data of the weapons is not encrypted for ease of modding? +1

The movement of soldiers seem too robotic, AP is a lot more fluid. Graphics in general need improving for a game in this genre.

I don't understand the campaign system in PCO, is it somewhat like Close Combat 3? in that you "buy" units and keep them through out the time the campaign lasts? can you upgrade a unit depending on time period? say a pz4 for a tiger? a Rifle squad '41 for a Rifle squad '44? etc

I guess I would have to try it out if I want to form a good opinion. Does it have any crippling bugs?

Pulling a "Henderson Fields" revamp of PC like they did with WITP would pique my interest. Releasing it for some crazy OS like Linux, even more-so.

They could dual release it on a Mac just as long as there's a PC PC version.

I'm in. Although I also think that destructable buildings are kinda important, especially for the campaign-style games.

If the game is anything like the first Pzr Command (Operation Winter Storm) demo I played years ago then I would like to sign the petition.

I remember when the second game (Panzer Command: Kharkov) was released, Erik did an AAR asking for tactics for the next turn, was fun to read and comment on.

Maybe they should continue the series.

Squares huh? Cute. PCO maps are made from Shuttle Radar Topography Mission data
http://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/srtm/
So are an accurate representation of the real terrain.

Data is what one would use if they wanted to know in numeric form what a tank gun would penetrate at 1000m.

I think you misunderstand me, I meant to say that the map in AP does not seems like a chunk of earth that "floats" against a matte paint background as in CM and PCO, in AP it feels like you're actually there, the actual terrain in AP:K1943 is full of topographic accidents and such, you will not find 100 or even 50 straight meters completely flat, the guys that made it are from Ukraine so they should know how their terrain looks since the setting is a piece of the Battle of Kharkov.

The map is divided in squares so you can move units around, but if you go to a map edge, your units can use terrain on an adjacent "off-limit" map (battle takes place on a 3x3 matrix of squares)like a road, there's no invisible wall or map edge to speak of, only you can't order units to specifically go to off battle map.

I'm not defending Achtung Panzer since I find it lacking in lots of things, I'm just clarifying that quote.

No news to report at this time, but personally if we can do it right, another Panzer Command release would be great.

How can we make it happen?[&o]
