I agree. I pretty much started on WPO, as it was a less-intense way to learn the map as a whole.

Without all the airpower, turns tend to fly.

Wow, I thought I was the only one to enter WitP-AE via WPO!

I still love the game's concept, and am still playing a PBEM. For years, numerous fan-based scenarios and artwork has kept the game alive. I have argued with Matrix for years that it should be updated to AE standards - you can still see it on the WPO forums. Unfortunately, one of the major people behind WPO, Justin Prince, is no longer with Matrix. While Matrix has always been cordial with me and never dismissed the idea entirely, the impression I have, (and if I'm wrong I'd welcome someone to correct me), is that if WPO is to be updated, it would basically be a fan-driven thing, with the blessing and support of Matrix.

Much as I love WPO's concept and playing with big battle fleets, it's hard to ignore all of the vast improvements of WITP-AE.
