Start game, Schleifen plan, let's move some more units into Belgium, oops I moved to the wrong square and am now attacking forces I wanted to bypass, how to I cancel that order, don't know, maybe drag the unit back, what? he's going there and back now, what the hell, quit...

When you have a unit selected and wish to cancel its move, each time you press the 'delete' button on the keyboard, it should remove one of the waypoints. Keep doing this until all the waypoints are gone and the move order is cancelled.

next game, let's try to build some new forces. A new infantry unit. How do I do that. I got to a screen where I could click some tiny boxes that seemed to indicate I was building a few infantry. Go ahead a turn. What's going on? A few more turns, what is happening? Tutorial doesn't even say how to build units, something so basic?

Why? The UI is brutal. It's like they deliberately made it as difficult as possible.

is it?

open the build unit screen, using the handy wee button at the top.

You can then click on a button at the top of that screen and choose between infantry/cavalry/artillery etc.

Select one for the country you are trying to build for. The map will go green to show you where you can place that unit to be built. A handy little tooltip is immediately available that tells you what cash/manpower/war supplies you'll be needing so you can quickly glance at the top of the screen to double check you have all that is needed.

Want to build replacements, use the F2 screen, again it tells you what resources you need and you can quickly check. A good rule of thumb is that one replacement unit will replace 10 losses (its random, but this seems to be a pretty good basis to judge how many you need).

I guess it took until this game to "get" the Ageod system, but I like this game more than any of the others and have already done an AAR from the Western Entente position.

I never had one CTD or exception. Everything loaded every time no exception.

I did have Pershing go missing, and that was annoying, but all in all, was a fun and enjoyable experience.

I too like this game with the exception of the SLOW speed of the ai processing ...
I cannot imagine on a slow pc how slow it would be ...

Also enjoying this game immensely and I never got hooked by the Civil War game, but this game is very immersive. I would only echo the one common complaint about loading times, wish that could be addressed somehow.

Hi mates!
Installation via Steam worked good. As always...
Spend lots of time with the game since I bought it.
There are some (hehe, lots of lots of lots) Bugs left, and I'm here to help to fix them.
There are too, to many Akte X-Files for me right now ;-)

As a German, I have to be intereseted in "European" History.
Seems like a good historical game!

I gave AI more time to make decisions and that made the turns very slow. But the game will run in the background, so I go on youtube and watch a video of something, and then when I see the background go black and the 2 sprockets are spinning, that usually means action is about to happen so then I go back and watch the playout of battles.

No sale for me here, I used my head and previous experience of AGEOD purchased games. Bought this game a decade or so back when it was called 'World War One'. Remember what a nightmare it was to try and play. The map wasn't even N-S. Was some crazy W-E orientation. Not sure why a professional development group seems to have the most trouble with UI (even simple stuff). Are they on a mission to make it as clunky and un-intuitive as possible? AGEOD games always follow the similar pattern.

- plagued with tons of bugs (World War One was basically unplayable for years)
- worse UI I've ever seen in computer war games, god awful
- too expensive for what you pay for

Most likely will never buy another AGEOD game unless they make some radical changes in UI ( fire half dev/design team?) and releasing cleaner (no such thing as bug-free anymore) game.

Will continue to purchase 2-by-3 games for sure. AGEOD could learn a lot for the 2by3 game designers. I do hope AGEOD gets there act together, would be nice to have more choices around solid strategic war games.

Are you talking from experience from World War One alone, or from later AGEOD titles. A lot has changed from World War One. This is a completely different game.

You can like or dislike AGEOD games but you can't do that talking about WWI Gold.

In fact, WWI (or WWI gold) was only distributed by AGEOD and it does not use the same system of classical AGEOD games.

Furthermore, as far as I know, there is no relation between WWI (or WWI gold) and this game apart from the topic. To End all Wars should be more similar to their last game "Civil War II"

AGEOD games are:
Birth of America (2006)
Ageod's American Civil War: The Blue and The Gray (2007)
Napoleon's Campaigns (2007)
Birth of America 2: Wars in America (2008)
Rise of Prussia (2010)
Revolution Under Siege (2010)
Pride of Nations (2011)
Alea Jacta Est (2012)

Civil War II (2013)
To End all Wars (2014)

Love the combat mechanics. Love the artwork. Just a shame it struggles o play out like WW1. The maneuver aspect of the War it does fairly well but falls down when it comes to the static side of things which considering on the West front thats from Nov '14 o March '18 is a problem.

Also when I see things like being able to use a box barrage during Aug\Sep '14 shows me we have some serious issues going on. Arty and it's use was a long slow learning curve on how to use it effectively and I thin box barrage that early in the War is pushing it. Things like the creeping barrage was dabbled wih after making a kind of appearance during Loos offensive it still took another two to three years to perfect it and was used effectively through the last 100 days.

At the start of the War Arty was looked down on by the Inf and Cavalry on the British side anyway. No combined arms training was done pre war and communication between the Inf an Arty was pretty much non existent. Arty and the airforce where probably he two arms of the service that evolved through the war until hey where a different beats more or less altogether.

As I said before I wish WW1Gold had this games combat mechanics (after some historical tweaking). Then I'd have the ultimate WW1 Grand Strat game.

I have to agree Wodin. This is a good game, but it doesn't catch the feel of the trench warfare on the WF. I like this game better than all the other Ageod games I have, but it doesn't really capture the feel you expect on the West Front.

As I personally filled in the database regarding battleplaner, I can say box barrage happening in 1914 might be a bug that I'll take look into. It is supposed to be available only after certain art tech is researched or if heavy rail guns are present.

I 've never seen Creeping barrage plan before late war. Did you?

As for the ww1 feel, in 1.01. beta patch after tweaking mtsg mechanics, it really has ww1 feel in multiplayer.

I checked and indeed there was an error there that enabled it to appear earlier. I mailed it to Pocus, hope he fixes it.

Agreed. At the moment, the game feels like CW2 with bigger stacks. I've never seen the AI coordinate an attack across a front.

I've been looking forward to the patch, but this makes me nervous.....

Saying the game is great in MP is not especially encouraging. Many of us are SP-only and have been hoping for a reasonable AI.

There has been improvements in the AI department as well. In fact, most developer patch work has been put into AI. But AI is not and never will be as good as human opponent.

Good to hear. No one expects an AI that can rival a human player. Just observing that testing the game in MP doesn't really help improve the AI. Glad to hear they're doing both.
