Nice, I opted into the beta in Steam and the download was only 29mb. Is the Steam beta the same as from the members area? I verified it is 1.05.2 from the whatsnew.pdf in the install directory.

So why did no one official point the steam users at that option?

Guessing it's because Steam added it when they wanted to, like they usually seem to so with things. Nice to see beta opt-in there.

I would really prefer these updates from Google download or others - the Matrix FTP server is not good friends with my computer.

It's very slow, 30 KB/sec (in the evening,) and 200 KB/sec the next morning.(Download usually at 970 KB/sec).

That's one advantage of putting the beta's on Steam - their content delivery network is optimised for this type of thing. I opted into the beta and it was just a small update that came down in a few seconds.

How do I opt in for beta?

I need a password to enter beta on Steam... I suppose this is only for the "official" beta team?

Open steam and go to your 'Library'
Right click on 'CMANO' and select Properties
Click on the 'BETAS' tab
You then have a drop down to either opt out or in to the betas.
Click 'Close' and the beta will be queued up. To revert back to the release version just select the 'NONE - Opt Out' and it will restore the non-beta version.

Hellfish, I may be wrong, but should be able to just ignore the password box and still get the beta versions that they link to the main forum here.

Yeah - I noticed after I restarted that the game was marked [Beta] now.

I can't get the file. The download stops at 95%, just 5 seconds before the end. I tried several times and I had always the same result. What's wrong?

This is getting ridiculous I cannot dl'd with my accelerator or with it deactivated.
I get messages like "Connection was disconnected at source"or"file cannot be downloaded".
Then there's the all to common ftp window in upper left hand corner of screen requesting
a name and password.There has to be an easier way this happens all the time.And it's really p*****g
me off.

i downloaded the zip file from members.. without problems..... however.... i gave the patch a path to unzip in the command directory..... when i started the game it was still titled version 105... not 105.2....?

i got it.... didnt realize it had an installer..... sorry....

Lucky you I still can't download dap say's can't dl'd will attempt at regular speed but nothing happens.
Then I disable dap and attempt to dl'd using save target as and am told file can't be dl'd.
This isn't the first time this c**p has happened at the members section.
